Comments Thread For: DiBella: Hearns Never Received Chavez Fight Contract

Promoter Lou DiBella has advised krikya360.com that he never received a bout agreement for a scheduled fight between Ronald Hearns (26-2, 20KOs) and WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (43-0-1, 30KOs)

This fight will be dumb if Arum allows it. If hes trying to give Jr more exposure with another tuneup fight, then september 17th is not the night to do it. The world will be watching STARPOWER. Now unless this fight happens in the afternoon, then it could be beneficial for exposure.

The reason they did not get the contract is because Suliaman actually had it sent to someone else. In a attempt to further pad Chavez's record with at least one world class elite fighter the contract was sent to Thomas Hearns. He of course is hoping that no one will notice that Hearns is 52 years old and retired. Hell, but I think even a 52 year "Hit Man" may still be able to beat Chavez Jr.

Jr's people are so scared to death of putting him in against someone real that they flit from one potential opponent to another -- remember in the 6 months or so before he fought Zbik, every other week we heard about yet another guy he was going to fight next? -- this is supposed to be some sort of a 'champion'?
