All you bloody boxing and financial experts don't know a single damn about boxing nor finance. There should be a special site for boxing dummies so that we-the ones who know what we're talking about- can properly enjoy intellgent and spirited discussion and dispute, with no rancour, as it once used to be.

If Donaire had allowed his contract to run out as it was originally, he would be now $500,000richer with another $750,000 fight already signed for before year end, ...plus extras, and his contract would have run out in mid 2013. He played it smart. Now it runs until mid 2017, so he knew what he was wanting, and did it. He is nearly 29 and in 4 years he will be winding down his career. Assuming all goes well he will be getting maybe multi-million purses and able to pick the few top guys to swell his retirement fund, like Marquez. And he can do this ONLY with the TOP Promoter, Top Rank, who can put on their own PPV if neccessary. I don't think his wife had much to do with this, because this is business, and she is an inexperienced kid. He must have had a top, boxing-business contract lawyer. I believe that Arum would insist on this, since, if Donaire is to be a Top Rank Star, there must be no squabbles, nor dissatisfaction with each other. If it could ever be shown that Top Rank had definitely cheated ANY of their top stars, their reputation would be ruined permanently. Arum is too big and too smart a businessman not to work to the dictum that there is enough for everybody concerned.
