I am a new member here. Filipino from Los Angeles.
Concerning the discussion on the thread "Poll: Juan Manuel Marquez VS. Manny Pacquiao WHO YOU THINK WON THE FIGHT??".
First, One of the judges admitted he scored the fight 10-7 instead of 10-6, but the fight was over a year ago, it is officially a draw. Only a rematch can prove whose the real winner.
Second, the members in here are proud to be Filipinos, Americans, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and other nationalities/races. Please stop putting down each other races over whose better, producer, or champions in boxing.
Lets compare Mexico and Philippines.
Diffirence:
1)the language
Similarities:
1)Both Mexicans and Filipinos are hard worker. Due to the economic situation of both countries, Mexicans go to the US to look for job while the Filipinos goes to the middle east, Hongkong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Europe. Why, to give their families a better stable future. If there are lazy mexicans or filipinos because they were americanized.
2.Both countries are catholics, got ruled by Spain, and both have fiestas. Even some of the cultures are probably the same.
3. Both like boxing.
Now to the Bad Similarities:
1. Corruptions in the government, military, and police.
2. Have drug problems, poverty, prostitution, and other crimes.
3. Both Filipinos and Mexicans are too proud of each others nationalities that they bashed each other for no reason.
Third, and lastly, about reasons why a country has produce more champions or fighters in the top 10 ratins.
1. Interest of the people in boxing. In Mexico, boxing is up there in soccer. In Philippines, basketball is #1 followed by boxing.
2. Support of the people. As far as how far does a promoter is willing to expose their fighters to people watching the boxing fight. Also the support of the government and community to provide boxing programs to interest more people to become boxer, whether for amateur or professiona careers.
3. Location. Since the United States is the main ground for big time boxing, which ever country is the nearest to the US, will get more exposure. Europe is 2nd main ground, after that none.
If you want to say something about how proud you are about your nationality, go ahead and post it, but don't thrash the others.
Just an opinion.
And in the words of Rodney King, CAN WE JUST ALL GET ALONG.
