Comments Thread For: Canelo's Trainer Continues To Call For Alfonso Gomez

Edison Reynoso, the trainer of WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, has continued to call for a fight with Alfonso Gomez (23-4-2, 12KOs). Reynoso mentioned Gomez last week as a possible candidate, but in several recent interviews he started calling Gomez a "preferred opponent" for September 17. Reynoso doesn't like the idea of his boxer facing Ricardo Mayorga, based on the Nicaraguan's track record of losing almost every major fight. Alvarez is going to be part of the Floyd Mayweather-Vitor Ortiz pay-per-view broadcast. Alvarez's portion of the show is expected to take place in Mexico or Los Angeles, where Gomez has a local following.

Pro Gamblers must love Saul Alvarez.

I mean, how many 'sure thing' fights is he going to have that they can put in a 7 fight accumalator with the likes of teh Cotto-Jennings, Margartio-Garcia, Khan-Mcloskey, and all the other 'sure thing' fights of this world?

What the ****? Just this morning they were talking all slick about how they were willing to go to MW with no catchweight for Chavez, few hours later they're picking on Gomez?

Both Chavez and Canelo have proven this year that they're big ticket sellers/ratings generators. Why not have that as the big TR/GBP reconciliation event, they can even call it 'Alvarez-Chaves: Reunited, And It Feels So Good'. Put that **** on PPV in October in Houston/Dallas or Cali and stack the undercard with some nice fights between their top prospects (Garcia-Velazquez, Gesta-Molina, Benavidez-Garcia).

But I guess a waste of time like Canelo-Gomez is the way to go
