Tell me if I am crazy but I noticed something in the Johnson-Froch.

Glen Johnson seemed to be fighting like a classic heavyweight like George Foreman. Throwing heavy punches and only a few combos. And fighting a fighter like Carl Froch who can take a lot. You must fight like like a Super-Middleweight not a Heavyweight. If he would have punched a little more he could have pushed for a draw.

Do you think that was Johnson's last fight?

He always fights like that. The difference last night though is that Froch has an amazing chin & elite fighter stamina.People with less stamina usually wilt under that type of pressure.

People say that certain fighters are above & beyond others in a given weight class. But the truth is there are fighters with better than the average stamina. That's what sets fighters apart in my opinion.

For example,Floyd,Manny,Froch,B-Hop to an extent & the Punisher are all able to actually turn it up as the fight continues while good fighters like Cotto,Oscar,Taylor,Judah & so on start to slow down.If Oscar had stamina like Manny or Floyd,he'd be even greater than he already is.

I think that Johnson was way too gunshy last night. Johnson doesn't have the power to fight like foreman. I think if he was busier with his punches he would've won the fight, but that asking alot from a 42 year old man who struggled to make 168 lbs. I dunno why he dropped all the way down to 166 lbs.

Johnson was waiting for Froch way too much, and he didn't counter when he could've and should've.

At 42 he can't fight at a ridiculous pace all night long. Johnson knew he'd have to pick his shots else he'd punch himself out, which somewhat happened in the sixth or seventh, I forget which round.

Sure, if Johnson had upped the workrate in the early rounds he would have had more success, but he would have also most likely spent himself leaving him prey to Froch's combinations in the middle to later rounds. There was also the fact that Froch's power seemed to be troubling him in the fight, as it does a lot of fighters.

Just because a guy doesn't visibly hurt you or knock you down doesn't mean his punches are having no effect. Johnson was obviously wary of leaving himself open to catching something big on the chops from Froch which affected his usual style, as he more or less admitted in the post fight interview, though not quite in those words.

Johnson fought pretty much the best fight he could fight, given his age and physical attributes. It just wasn't good enough unfortunately. Great win for Froch.

YEP, i was amazed too by his body work in the early-middle rounds. Not sure why he stopped carrying this out in the championship rounds.

This was a great fight first of all. But to answer your question: Johnson's game plan in almost every fight is to take advantage of his power. He comes forward with steady power to the body and head over and over which will lull an opposing fighter into a sense of patterned security and then.... BAM! He sneaks in a power shot that can KO your family tree in one fell swoop.

To Froch's credit he was able to take 3 such shots (on my count anyway.. maybe more) which only stunned him. He was able to escape a punch that regularly will K.O. a lesser fighter.

In this fight we learned that Froch is credible and talented opponent for Andre Ward... or for anyone in the Super Middleweight division for that matter. Also with Glenn Johnson he just could not sustain the type of attack that could beat Froch but he is still a force to reckon with.

I personally don't know if Ward would be able to take a Glenn Johnson power shot as well as Froch did last night.

A Johnson vs Abraham ( or better yet Kessler ) fight would be watchable in my opinion as well.
