Wow now THAT is a bad idea. Holyfield is just sad to watch I mean how can he figure he has a shot at a title when he gets beaten up by uhh I forget the name of his last guy. At least with Mesi I feel for him cause he was an undeafeated prospect just starting to make appreances on HBO and some top 10 lists and suddenly he cant fight anymore. I feel for him but he still should not be allowed to fight.

Holy owes it-- not only to himself but to the sport that made him-- to quit.

Mesi, if he loves the sport, should quit too.

Enemies of boxing will have a field day if....

In my opinion. Mesi is going to kill Holyfield.

          Literally.

Maybe they'll both suffer brain damage because they are just too ****** to care about their healths. This is a ****ing joke and the country of Italy should say no ****ing way to it.

              I agree!

At this point the only person Holyfield can beat is Tyson!

Agreed. Brainbleeding or not, Mesi is a legit threat to Holyfields life at this point. This is not how we want to remember Holyfield.

I agree this fight has no business taking place in Italy, or anywhere else.
I think though we need to give some credit to American boxing commissions here for refusing to allow a potentially profitable fight to take place. I am not a doctor, but I can't imagine it is at all prudent to allow Mesi into the ring. And needless to say holyfield should not be allowed to fight. Clearly the commissions are moving in the direction of protecting fighters. Now can we pass a mandatory retirement age so that Thomas Hearns can retire already. Also, I think some earlier stoppages in one sided fights could avert some of the tragedies we have seen lately and this responsibility belongs to both cornermen and referees. Granted Mayweather is not a hard hitter, but I would have hated to see what would have happened to gatti had that gone another 2 or 3 rounds. But kudos to the commissions for trying to protect mesi and holyfield. Sadly there probably will never be global standards.

If they want to go to bum **** egypt to fight then let the hard headed ****ers fight.

Holy is all thru and is pretty damn ****ed up there is no doubt about this.

                    but...

Mesi? Sure he cant get cleared but what does that mean? Edwin Valero cant get cleared either but is ****ing people up left and right, **** dougie Fischer thinks he would beat Morales, Barerra and PAc and he cant even fight on US soil.

So maybe this Italy thing is a good way to get Joe back into the ring, it has worked for Valero.

Like valero, Mesi's injury would not affect his ability to look like a quality fighter. It does however enhance hischance of being killed or seriously hurt in the ring and that is why no commission should permit Mesi to fight
