Roach: I told him no both times, and both times I said, one, there isn't enough money there, we rather fight the Golden Boy Joshua Clottey who will bring his 5 fans to Cowboys Stadium, and two, you're too good a fighter, wait till 2011 when you're older and had looked like shit against Mayweather and Mora.
Here is an interview with Roach. At this point in time (around Hatton fight) Roach thought a Mosley fight may be more interesting than Mayweather.
Like I said in my prior post, at this point in time (remember Manny was fighting at 140 against Hatton) they still questionned if Manny can take on a true WW fighter at the 147 limit.

So Pac should have fought Bradley for his ABC belt for maybe around 3 million instead of fighting Hatton the lineal Champ at 140 and more money is bad? Seriously that is some idiotic logic. And besides a lineal champ means the guy is the man of a division, to hardcore boxing fans a lineal championship is more legitimate than some abc title.
And the Cotto fight although at 145, Cotto weighed in 1 pound less than his previous fight with Clottey. If I remember correctly at least half of boxing fans throughout many boxing message boards thought Cotto would still be too big and strong for Pac. Of course now he's considered to be a bad cherry picking opponent after the victory by the same people that predicted that Cotto would win. Guys are trying to be Nostradamus after the results have come out. SMH.
Oscar was a money fight for Pac, let's not make things up and say he avoided Mosley when that fight wasn't even for consideration in '08 and before Mosley fought Margarito. So I don't see how Pac avoided Mosley in '08 after he beat Margarito as someone said when that fight didn't happen until Jan. of '09.

Even though Mayweather was generally ignored by the majority of experts then for his "stink-out-the-house" kind of fighting, I liked him, because I respected skill, and the ART is to hit and not be hit.
However, when I saw what disgusting and outrageous advantage he took of Corrales, by tempting him with money, who had not only left the division, but was just getting ready to go to gaol for 2 years, as well as being bankrupt with no money to pay his lawyers, and on whose mind the last thing in the world was boxing.
Until then I absolutely did not like Corrales whom I considered a bully, but after this so-called "fight" where the poor guy struggled to move and punch right from the very first rd. and just couldn't do it, looking as if he was wading through oil, I ended up detesting Mayweather, and respecting Corrales, even though he had received his sentence for assaulting his wife. My feelings have never changed since then.
And I think that the public perception of these two fighters has mirrored mine.

Floyd also convincingly beat El Ternible in their rematch, another solid fighter and left his balls after that.

Pacquiao has four lineal belts at 112, 126, 130, and 140. All the rest are crap. That's still more lineal belts than anyone else and it's spanning seven modern weight classes which is awfully impressive.
If they really cared about his legacy they would fight JMM at 135 for that lineal belt and then Berto for the belt at 147. Six lineal belts would be a really really tough record to break.

I seem to recall that Mayweather was ranting daily that the coming fight was in defence of all beaten wives............ At the same time he was beating up women himself, far worse than Corrales, because Corrales' situation was a single offence, whereas Mayweather was shown to be a habitual woman beater.
A "nice" way to treat your opponent who is on his way to gaol, where in fact mayweather himself should have been. A genuine "sportsman" is Mayweather.
The only god thing I can say about Mayweather today, is that he may still end up there, where he should have been long ago.
We can only "hope and pray"..........
