Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Talks Sky Fallout, McCloskey Defense, More
Amir Khan has accused the leading British broadcasters of a lack of support ahead of Saturday's WBA light-welterweight title defence against Northern Ireland's Paul McCloskey.
the guy is such an idiot. how about not pricing your opponents out? how about paying legit opponents fairly and not trying to squeeze every last penny out of people.
i mean you are asking people to step in the ring and risk their lives-- potentially incurring hundreds of thousands of dollars of medical costs. so how about paying them more than $50 you loser.
while you're at it how about you stop breaking into people's hotel rooms and stealing contracts. now what you got? some part-time boxercise trainer from 24 hour fitness??? the guy probably trains middle-aged married women most of the time.
An audience of 16,000 is impressive considering that there was literally zero promotion in the crucial final 2 weeks of the fight.
Actually, with all this talk about changing channels and going from PPV, to cable and back to PPV, is alot of promotion right there. Even bad publicity is better than no publicity, whether you think Team Khan is being greedy or if they are just trying to get what they were told they were gonna get.
Either way, I do have a question? If Khan has to take a huge pay cut (which I imagine he can't make what he was going to make before), does McCloskey have to take a cut too? If I am correct, it took $300K to get McCloskey in the ring with Khan, and with Sky 3 doing the fight, Khan would have made less than him. I am just curious, why has Khan's purse had to change but we have heard nothing of Paul's purse changing. Curious minds want to know...

If Mcloskey was to get hurt the british boxing board of control would pick up the medical bills, same system in the US also dummy. He offered Peterson $300k to fight, which even Peterson said was fair he just didn't agree to options on the rematch clause which is his decision and it is fair enough, but khan didn't short change him. The £200k McCloskey is getting for this fight is more than fair and 5x more than he has made in the past. Your last paragraph I agree with.
