Floyd and Calzaghe: What if they lost a couple of early fights?

Lets say that Calzaghe and Floyd lost a couple of fights when they were green contenders, do you think that would of allowed them to take more risks later in their careers? When you have been undefeated for a long time it can make you overly cautious about losing that 0 later in your career
    Thoughts please?

to be honest other than cotto theres not to many other people floyd didnt fight

margo lost to williams after challenging floyd

kosta lost to hatton while floyd was at 140

and joe basically cleaned out 168

so not sure who he avoided.....these 2 fought who they were suppose to fight..revisit history and you'll see everyone people claim they avoided 9 times outta 10 they eventually fought

Floyd could of fought Margarito instead of Baldamir
Calzaghe should of moved up to lhw much sooner. He should of fought Pavlik instead of shot Jones and he definitely should of fought Glen Johnson before he retired

why fight a title holder instead of the linear champion??plus he was being accused of ducking baldo aswell

why would joe HAVE to move up??he was comfortable at 168 and ruling his division..joe moved up at 36 and got 2 paydays and retired..people forget joe was knocking on 40 himself
both had great careers and floyd may not be done

          Baldomir was a journeyman

No serious boxing fan could of accused Floyd of ducking if he fought Margarito instead of Baldomir

The smw division was a barren wasteland, why stay in there?

True. But they could of been a lot better. Just imagine if Joe fought Tarver, Glen Johnson, Dawson and Pavlik instead of random euro guys

baldo was no journeyman..he hadnt lost in a decade and earned his shot at the linear champ and won..thats how boxing works man..just cause he wasnt a big name doesnt make him a journeyman...why fight a titleist when you can fight "THE CHAMP"

smw was his home and he defended it with an iron fist..why couldnt the lhw move down and challenge him??works both ways..plus he wanted to stay there to rake up the title defenses

If I remember correctly Judah gave Baldomir the shot as a warm up for his fight with Mayweather which was already a done deal. Outside of Judah and a questionable win over Clottely who has Baldomir beaten?

Titles don't mean much these days, its the quality of your opposition that really matters

It was a barren wasteland, if you want a legacy you have to go where the top level competition is. Think Hearns at ww after the Leonard fight.

Not really, they would of been weight drained

If you look at his title defenses only one of them is against a decent opponent, Kessler.

titles dont mean much true..but being THE CHAMP means everything

joe cleaned out his division and eventually moved up

we both have differant opinions i see where you're coming from but i think both did themselves proud and have no reason to hold their heads low...history will be kind to both(could their resumes have been a lil better yes but that can be said about any fighter)

margarito was relevant before and after his loss to williams. it's nice to have well timed retirements to avoid people isn't it? floyd also turned down a career high payday to fight margarito before the baldomir fight was even offered.

yes tsyzu lost to hatton while floyd was fighting a bunch of eliminators to get a gatti fight.........

but floyd fought everyone he was supposed to according to you because he wasn't supposed to fight anyone i guess. it was just a series of misunderstanding that led to him having such a flimsy resume.

if wifebeater and cokezaghe lost a couple fights earlier in their career, they'd still be fighting now trying to try to erase that loss by fighting the best fighters out there instead of fighting bums and overmatched opponents.
