Why dont ALL fighters request testing??

As a fighter in a all contact sport, you would think both parties would be requesting blood test. Why is it that only certain fighters request it & others get turned weak by the thought of testing??

IS a blood test that dangerous? Can one be killed by it?

I've giving blood at blood drives, drug screenings for work, and being tested for std's (which i'm clean of all things)...I've never been shy of testing, and its never hurt me physically. It actually made me feel better knowing that i was clean..

What is it that makes people not want to test?

Because too many fighters are against it, the same reason blood testing hasn't been accepted in other major sports. Maybe baseball has it, I'm not sure. Athletes have long been against giving blood if they don't have to. As to why they are against it? I don't know, getting blood drawn freaks some people out. I have friends like that.

With so many fighters against it, the ones who want it, as IMDAZED said yesterday, run the risk of being cast out.

The people in major sports only make up a small percentage of the US population. The majority of the people lets say 97% at less give blood for their jobs. The remaining 3% who are in sports arent special....they are hidding something my friend..

You would be suprised how many great athletics bit the fruit once or twice..

          1. the test costs money. money that MOST fighters don't really have.
          2. the tests themselves have a questionable track record. as of todate, it has caught ZERO cheats.
          3. Golden Boy, who defended to death the tests in behalf of floyd jr., themselves DO NOT IMPLEMENT such tests.
          4. some people actually DO have problems with needles.

however, the good news is that there are better CHEAPER, non-invasive tests out there currently being developed and hopefully, they would implement those soon.

It shouldn't be a decision made by fighter, or used as a tool in promotions.

There should 1 governing body providing the best possible testing for Title and title elimination bouts around the world IMHO.

as much as PPV cost, as much as these net works like HBO & Showtime make, has muchs as these promoters make etc....we talking millions of dollars. It cost millions to air 24/7 on HBO network...they can add blood testing as a requirement. You claim it hasnt caught anyone to date? WHo did they blood test to date?

And its not just about boxing....I was watching MMA yesterday and i bet all them boys are doping too.

As far as who hasn't it caught, well look at all the Olympians who get away with doping and we don't find out for years. They do mandatory blood tests. Look at the Tour De France as well, that's one of the most doped up events in sports.

i agree. but there are already commissions having that responsibility, there ARE tests being made regularly, AND there have been fighters WHO WERE AND ARE GETTING CAUGHT CHEATING WITH THOSE TESTS.

hopefully, as i said, they'd develop better, non-invasive tests soon.
