Troubled but talented contender Mike Alvarado opened the show and showed a lot of the reasons why some believe he could be a darkhorse in the hotly contested Junior Welterweight division. Displaying a sharp array of punches, Alvarado dispatched a game Dean Harrison when he would not come out for the 5th round. Alvarado, weighing the lowest of his career at 139lbs, now improves to 29-0 (21KOs) while Harrison drops to 16-5 (5KOs). For Alvarado this was a good stay busy fight as he pushes into a April 16th must win fight against Vernon Paris.
