I believe its a bunch of bull.

Have you calculated the actual astrological signs at the date and year the respective fighters were born, or have you used the fixed one, which was correct 2000 years ago?

Remember that in 26 000 years, the same date will have gone through the whole astrological sign cycle.

Unless you have done this, your whole astrological point is pretty much, er, pointless.

If astrology didn't matter then you should be able to find approximately the same # of great fighters in every zodiac right? because we are looking at a pool of millions. the pool of boxing history is not a small one.
You should find a spread out list, yes.

But instead of doing that, you're picking and choosing which greats you include.

Find a list of the top 100 greats of all time, run through it with the actual sign their were born in at the time, then you can analyse the statistics.

astrology does matter in life, and does influence a boxers fighting style, character, and mindset.

Cus d'amato believed in astrology too; knowing this and his knowledge of psychology, it's
no surprise he saw more in boxing then just fighting, he saw it as way to help young men
become more confident in themselves, to be contributing people of society, reguardless
if they succeed in the sport.

Now the astrological relationship between D'amato and Tyson.

Cus is a Capricorn (jan.17) and Mike is a Cancer (june.30)
Now these two signs are opposites; capricorns being cold unemotional, and cancers being emotional and sensitive. Mike's weakness is that he's is very sensitive, and being so when he is insulted, he becomes intimidated, and when this happens a person does two things:

Destroy them either physically (fighting) or rhetoric'ly (insults, yelling)
        OR
        Runaway; cowardice, cry, give up.

A recent example of this in boxing; roy jones vs calzaghe, now roy was doing good with him the first two rounds, then calzaghe fights back and cuts him above the eye, thus
Jones becomes intimidated. Now Jones mars (planet of war) is in scorpio, and when scorpio fighters get tested they have a tendency to QUIT. (Judah,Cotto,Cintron,Pascal)

Now I don't mean they'll throw in the towel, but they will stop trying to win and coast so they don't get beaten up too badly; This is called a "Game quitter" an old school boxing term. Jones also did this in the Griffin I fight when he trouble leading, but he turned it around.

I'll go into the d'amato/tyson astrology connection later if theres any interest.
Im intrested, lets hear it. I dont buy it but its still intresting to me, also any Libra fighters, characteristics?

This is a good thread. I see there are still narrow minded people out there that don't believe in the power of astrology, or thinks it's feminine. LOL!

I've been studying astrologies effect on boxing (and all sports) for years.

Even though I'm a Scorpio I can fully admit that EARTH SIGNS dominate sports, period. They are EARTH (physical) signs for a reason.

Most earth sign boxers have unbelievable toughness and chins (barrera, morales, jmm, hopkins, ali, srr, srl, frazier, foreman, roy jones, lennox, etc...).

Most water sign boxers are very intuitive, slick and very fluid (mayweather, sergio martinez).

Most fire sign boxersare aggressive, energetic and brave (paul williams, pavlik, pacquiao).

Most air sign boxers are overly intellectual, detached and rarely make for good boxers. Although you do have your rare cases like Marvin Hagler and De La Hoya.

What I do find interesting is the way SCORPIOS quit when pressured. Scorpios are widely known in the zodiac as the most powerful sign and also the most intuitive sign.

If you want an example of Scorpios power in boxing then look no further than Antonio Tarver's two round destruction of earth sign Roy Jones.

Tarver showed his power and balls beforehand by asking Roy "any excuses tonite?" at the staredown. That takes big time balls.

With that said, I've seen a disturbing trend of Scorpio quitters.

              Examples:

Miguel Cotto (scorpio sun) takes a knee and quits in his fight against Margarito.

Ivan Calderon (scorpio moon) takes a knee and quits against Segura.

Kermit Cintron (scorpio moon) jumps out of the ring against Willams and quit against Margarito.

Prince Naseem Hamed (scorpio moon) seemingly gave up when he found out he couldn't intimidate Barrera. Naseem basically quit boxing altogether after that fight.

Zab Judah (scorpio sun) took the easy way out and basically quit in his fight with Clottey.

So yes there is a trend here with Scorpios and quitting. Maybe it's that deep intuition that signals the end is near before the ending actually happens.

I'll say this though. No other sign seems to know how to find their opponents weaknesses better than a Scorpio.

Zab is still the only man to drop Mayweather with a legit punch. Pascal dropped Hopkins twice. Antonio Tarver found Roy's sweet spot before anyone else. Miguel Cotto dropped Clottey with a jab. Larry Holmes was the first to expose Cooney, etc...

Scorpios are the mysterious people in the zodiac. No wonder they're from the mysterious planet PLUTO.

                  Did Tarver quit?

And where was his great power in other big fights?

He took a severe beating and was a bloody mess against Marg. He also didnt quit against Pac.

Prince Naseem Hamed (scorpio moon) seemingly gave up when he found out he couldn't intimidate Barrera. Naseem basically quit boxing altogether after that fight.
He quit against Barrera?? lol. He was outboxed, and never came close to quitting. He quit because he was rich and had hand problems.

What about Morales, Chavez, Duran, and so many other fighters who have quit in the ring? Most werent Scorpions.

I'll say this though. No other sign seems to know how to find their opponents weaknesses better than a Scorpio.

Scorpios find their opponents weaknesses better than other star signs? Could u just list all the one punch KO's and knock downs and see if they were mostly Scorpions?
That wuld be a better test.
But many may be lucky punches and not really finding a weakness at all. Most fighters weakness is their chins if u hit them hard enough.

Scorpios are the mysterious people in the zodiac. No wonder they're from the mysterious planet PLUTO.
I see. I should have read that first. It would have saved me the time.

Taureans are earth signs and imo the toughest people in the world, period. There sign is represented by the real life BULL. There are not too many animals tougher than a bull.

Some of the best fighters in history have been born under the sun sign of Taurus:

                    Ray Robinson
                    Ray Leonard
                    Joe Louis

The moon sign isn't as popular as the sun sign, but the moon represents your emotions and also it's who you really are. It's the side of you that you hide from the public and keep to yourself.

                    Moon sign Taurus boxers:

                    Floyd Mayweather
                    Arturo Gatti
                    Arthur Abraham

Arturo Gatti is a great representation of the Taurus moon.

Arturo was exciting because of his toughness. Who could take a beating greater than Gatti and still comeback to win? Nobody.

The scary thing about Mayweather is he has this moon as well, so more than likely he can take a serious beating. Look at how well he rebounded from that Shane Mosley right hand.

Libras on the other hand don't seem to be represented that well in boxing.

The most famous ones I can think of our Holyfield and Tommy Hearns. Libras are known for their competitive spirit and would explain why both Hearns and Holyfield continued to fight way past their prime years.
