I agree, after the first round the most intriguing fight was most likely Ward/AA.

But Abraham was always limited, I got RedK'd for pointing that out before the Dirrell fight. And I am not yet convinced that AA is not a "Miranda level fighter", simply because we have seen absolutely nothing to prove otherwise against an even reasonable opponent. He looked out-of-his-depth against Froch, but I do take your point about an off-night.

A before/after summary of AA's impact on the Super-6 could be maybe.....
    - Largely untested, and found wanting -

But hey, he has another chance, and he has an x-factor in each hand, so let's see what happens from here.

I've been following Abraham for almost 5 years now. As a fan I've made every effort to watch all of his fights. That said the Abraham we've seen in the Dirrell and Froch fights is not the same Abraham that entered the tournament, not even remotely so. Sure Abraham has never been a slickster or master boxer but in the past he was much quicker of both hand and foot, and was far more aggressive than he has been recently. Abraham may not have the same tools in his toolbox that guys like Dirrell and Ward do but he used to use the tools he does have better than anyone else. He was calculating, swarming, and at times relentless and punishing, these days not so much.

When they lose a fight it's popular and admittedly very easy to write big punching guys off or bring to light their apparent lack of boxing ability but in the case of Abraham I don't believe it's his skill set or lack thereof that's hurting him. Forget having or needing a plan B, Abraham isn't even executing the most basic of plan A's these days. He may well have lost both fights even if he let his hands go but I give Abraham just as much credit for his two losses as I do Dirrell and Froch.

Standing in the ring for 12 rounds and acting like a heavy bag shows a lack of effort and desire and is not an indicator of a poor skill set. Abraham did very little in both of these fights and essentially handed Dirrell and Froch their victories on a silver platter. Sure both guys boxed smart and efficiently but Abraham simply did nothing but stand there and absorb punches.

I've read in more than a few recent articles that Wegner has gone on record as saying that Abraham has a lot of distractions in his life and isn't focused on fighting like he once was. The Abraham we've seen vs. Froch and Dirrell eerily and sadly reminds me of a post prison Mike Tyson. Post prison Tyson certainly had the skills to get the job done but had no passion for fighting and was constantly slow, ineffective, stationary, lacked movement, and was always looking for that one big lucky punch as opposed to breaking his opponents down. That version of Tyson no longer had any love for the sport, had a ton of distractions in his life and had no desire to continue fighting and did so only because of pressure and money. I see many similarities between today's Abraham and post prison Tyson. I know that Tyson is one of Abraham's idols and it's a shame he's following a similar in ring path.

I believe that for whatever reason Abraham no longer has a passion for fighting and that he's got to many other things going on away from the ring. He's certainly fighting as though that's the case. I'm a huge fan of Abraham but I think the guy is done. I'll be surprised if he doesn't withdraw from the tournament.

Exactly. It's likely Wegner is frustrated with his own lack of ability and has opted (probably sub-conciously) to blame AA to possibly avoid critism himself.

I agree with Abrahams trainer, that was a shameful performance against Dirrell and Froch. I think Abraham's trainer should find other worthy fighters to train.

I expected more from Abraham against Froch as well...Dirrell was quick and more elusive but Froch owned Abraham every second of the fight pretty much and Froch wasn't running at all...boxing clinic...

It's AA's younger brother in your sig.

It was the truth. He was coming off a loss where he just stood there and took a beating, never turning up the heat, and for him to do the exact same thing against Froch is inexcusable. He stood there and let Froch tee off, it was like Clottey against Pacquiao all over again.

He's definitely better than Miranda's level. He proved it in the rematch.

I'm with most in saying AA was a highly protected one dimensional fighter. I was clueless to why Arum was so slow making that fight because I thought Pavlik would have handled him.

But he's still above average. He's just not going to do well against guys who are long and can keep him at the end of their jab.

when your trainer calls you a coward that means you quit and gave up. Those are heavy words coming from the one closest to Abe and quitter is a branding that never comes off. Ask Mosley. Abe was outclassed.

                      That's right.

Abraham made no changes at all, even though he should have realized the need to do so after the Dirrell fight (at the latest).

He and his coach are unwilling and/or unable to make changes in AA's style.

I think he should get a new coach and try he improve his skills. Almost all of Wegner's boys have the same style, he even pushed Hoan Pablo Hernandez into his double defense regime, and spoiled him doing so.
