you make a valid point about the meaningless accolades and whatnot but i voted pac because the guy stays busy and IMO has beaten the more meaningful competition with better performances in comparable matches.

another thing that has tainted his legacy, to me atleast, is asking for ost for pac when in 1999 pac was already as high as 122lbs and foyd was 130lbs. i mean here we are 11 years later and floyd STILL out weighs him by as much as 10lbs (assuming floyd weighs in unofficially around 155-158) so wtf is the deal? is it pacs great conditioning that floyd is su****ious of? or just the fact that pac ***s people up way worse than him? anyways, Pacquiao = better legacy and at this point the margin is still growing.

You definetly have a some very good points and stated them in a logical and sensible manner. Thanks for that! We need more debates here and not "fanboys".

I voted Mayweather. The reason I did was because, in my eyes, he will be/is the greater fighter. While he will never have the "feel good" story like Pac does, or be the flavor of the moment like Pac is, he has been much more consistent, dominated almost all his fights, never been Ko'd and had beat some great to very good names in the primes.

For a while, I really loved Pac. When he beat MAB I was shocked and impressed. But when he drew with JMM, it started showing me more that he was not very skilled. Mostly a lot of speed movement, and power w/a very good chi. All I could think was, "how do u knock someone down 3x in the first round and get a draw??" And, while I still liked him a lot(I am partial to filipinos, since my wife is one), it showed even more when he fought Morales. Real boxers give Pac trouble. Don't get me wrong, Pac has improved a good deal since then, BUT, this is where he really started going down hill for me. In my eyes Roach has/is doing him a dis-service. I am sure it was Roach's idea to make Morales come back to Super Feather because they knew he was having problems making the weight. Then fighting him again at the same weight? Come on! He had good wins after this but after fighting all these guys with a come ahead style, he could've taken on Guzman. He was even called out. They didn't take it and I think its because JG, especially at that time, had the style that could give Pac fits. He chose to fight JMM and in my eyes and even his prominent sports writes from the Phils say he lost.

Next he moves up and fights the weakest champion for the title. He got his match with De la Hoya, but again, Roach knew what he had left, which was nothing. U can't blame him for fighting ODLH, but we don't have to make him a God for beating a way past it Oscar either. Not to mention he did it at 147 a weight ODH hadn't fought at in many years. Floyd fought him much earlier and at his current weight. Why the credit for Pac and almost non for FM?

He beat Hatton which was a very good win. I won't knock that one. But, since that win, I just don't give much value to his wins. The VERY first thing I thought, when I heard about him fighting Cotto was MISMATCH(and it wasn't FOR Cotto either). I felt that way because of how looked since fighting Margarito. I kept wondering why he wouldn't take the fight w/SSM. What bothered me here is, he says he fights for the people, not for money. Well, SSM was coming off an amazing win. Why not fight the #1 WW? People will say "Well, Cotto beat SSM". True, but that Cotto was no where to be found after he fought Margarito and Roach even admitted it. Not to mention, he got it at a catchweight for the belt. Wasn't Cotto already looking crappy enough? He needed more of an advantage? And he had already fought ODH at full 147.

Regardless of what you think of Mayweather asking for the OSDT, Pac's team ask for their own concessions and FM agreed. They SAID they had agreed as well, only to change the story about 1000x. How can u blame Mayweather? I honestly believe that FMJ doesn't think Pac is clean. Also, he moved from no cut off to 14 days. Pac & team moved from no cutoff to 3, 5, 7, 30 and ultimately 24 only after they were shown to be lying again. How can anyone say that Mayweather didn't want the fight when he met 1/2 way, while Pac went away from his original agreement 30 days and finally to 24? Also, while I AM NOT saying Pac is on something. But, please tell me another fighter that u know of, past or present, that moved up over even 3-4 weight classes(nevermind 8) and was hurting the bigger guys the same way or more than he hurt the smaller ones. Not to mention held onto 90% of his speed over those classes. SSL didn't do it. Thomas Hearns didn't do it. SSR didn't do it! Trinidad? Nop! DLH? Nope! That in itself, if u are being impartial, should at least make you question a little bit. Not accuse, but question.

Clottey? His style is MADE for Pac. He is a counter puncher. Not very fast and not much movement. He covers up and waits until u stop punching. Pac has great movement, very good power and a high work rate. It wasn't a stretch to know Pac's style wins this fight.

Now Margarito. Same thing except..another catchweight, Margarito got Ko'd by SSM, was out for more than a year and then looked like absolute garbage in his previous fight.

It gets really annoying that Pac gets soo many accolades for fighters that are picked to suit his style. Nothing out of the norm, close to the same styles. Not to mention winning 2 belts at catchweights.

I am very impressed with Pac. He is an all time great. I won't deny that. I just don't like the way he has gotten there in some cases.

Dont be daft. YOu do think Pac is a better fighter than floyd. Just seems you are angry at Pac for being the better fighter because you like floyd more. Just be honest.
No matter what excuses you make as regards Pacs opponents. Pac would beat them better than Floyd. Floyd wouldnt put Margarito in hospital and knock out hatton in 2 rounds.

You got to remember though 1 floyd fan = 5 fans. They still lose the poll though if that was the case.

              Pacquiao for sure.

He's had more (seemingly) tougher fights, like another poster said earlier, compare the wins against Hatton and De La hoya, Pacquiao took them out more impressively. He gave both Cotto and Margarito facelifts.

              He takes risks, Floyd doesn't.

Floyd needs to come back to fight and really fight. No way Mosley should be his last opponent, Mosley was shooked by the middle stages, he was destroyed mentally.

Ummm, Noo, I really don't. And when the fight does happen, I will be better a LARGE sum on Mayweather.

Beat them "better"?? What is that? A win is a win right? Because Mayweather uses his ring IQ to figure them out, break them down and not take much punishment, that means Pac beat them "better". I would love to be able to move forward in time 40-50yrs, and see what kind of condition both are i. Then ask Pac if it was worth it to beat them, what you considered "better".

Floyd would carve Margarito up and take A LOT less punishment than pac did. Not floyd fault that hatton learned to walk into punches with his hands down.
