he was only having problems because arum wanted him to fight margarito and he wanted none of that. why don't you understand this?
Get this through your head... Arum wanted Floyd to re-sign with him to get a fight with Margarita, Cotto, and Hatton.

Why would he re-sign with a guy that owes him millions and he's having problems with him over his career? Floyd was upset with Arum because Arum was not promoting him like he wanted to be promoted and decided to promote himself.

ARUM EVEN SAID FLOYD WAS WILLING TO FIGHT MARGARITA FOR 10M, BUT ARUM DID NOT WANT TO PAY HIM 10M FOR THE FIGHT. WHY WOULD ARUM LIE TO MAKE FLOYD LOOK GOOD IN THE MEDIA AFTER HE LEFT TOP RANK?

It still doesn't change the fact that there was ABSOLUTELY NO NEED to add 'Argentinian' in your description of Baldomir. It became even more damning when you spoke of it in relation to Margarito's Mexican background. But if it was an honest mistake on your part, it's alright.

You keep saying Floyd ducked Margarito. However, I'm already presenting news archives to prove you wrong and yet you still won't budge. The man was waiting for a fight with De La Hoya, which De La Hoya ended up accepting late. He was in a contract dispute with Arum, which further complicated things. AND ONE MORE IMPORTANT FACT, PEOPLE WANT TO CONVENIENTLY FORGET:

Baldomir, 35, who will earn about $1.7 million plus a percentage of pay-per-view profits, got the fight over junior middleweight titlist Cory Spinks. Mayweather would have moved up to 154 pound for that match, one that was heavily criticized in the media when the negotiations came to light.

"In addition to so much negative press about a Spinks fight, there were other issues. Spinks, who beat Roman Karmazin July 8 to win the belt, owes Rodney Jones a mandatory fight, and Jones promoter Artie Pelullo was considering legal action if Jones was bypassed in favor of a Spinks-Mayweather bout."- Dan Rafael

You and me can both agree that FMJ can be an arrogant prick at times, but let's agree that the man doesn't always get the credit he deserves. His personality should have no bearing on his boxing achievements.

        this...

*like i said in the previous post concerning this, why would you want to give your boss more money in your next business venture if you're already having contractual issues with him?

What happened to Arum offering Floyd 20M to fight Cotto after the DLH fight? He never made him an offer even after HBO told him they would put up the money.

seriously you have no clue just none. margarito is mexican. mexicans have a much higher population than argentinians in the united states. thus they would probably buy more ppv's if floyd fought margarito than baldomir. now please tell me how that is any way racist?

Margarita was a nobody back in the day and never sold millions of PPV's.

He was never a draw and will never be a draw.

don't have a problem with 2007 either. hatton and delahoya was big time money.

floyd shouldn't have retired when marg and cotto was still there though. the retirement was his way of avoiding those fights.
This is my only gripe with Mayweather, I dont think he should have fought Margarito in 2006 because i think Arum would have tied him down to a longer contract which would have compromise any chance of him fighting De la Hoya and Hatton. But he should have fought Cotto/Margarito in 2008, But who are we to say he retired just to avoid those two fights? What evidence do we have?

i thought *****s liked facts? he sold 500k with cotto and probably over a million with pac. baldomir sold 325 with mayweather(the ppv king) and he's a draw? please report back to reality.

pretending somebody isn't a draw is classic ducking mentality.

A career high pay day with Margarito was nothing to him, when you consider the fact that he was actually chasing a fight with De La Hoya which would have made him as much money as fighting at least 2 or maybe even 3 Top Rank fighters. He contacted De La Hoya, and De La Hoya told him to leave Top Rank because he wasn't going to do business with Arum. Bob Arum flat out told Floyd that the fight with Oscar "Wasn't in the cards".

Regardless of what happened in that stinker of a fight, it was seen as the biggest fight in the sport at the time. And it was in jeopardy because 2 other people and not Floyd himself. Go figure.

After that regardless of what happened you can call Floyd a duck, because it was ****** of him to retire from the sport at that time, but its flat out foolish to say he avoided Margarito by buying out of his contract with Top Rank, in order to pursue the fight that the public wanted at the time(De La Hoya vs Mayweather)

OK, I ACCEPT THE FACT THAT YOU WEREN'T TRYING TO BE RACIST. Just watch your contextual information along with your tone when bringing up somebody's background.

You keep harping on Floyd's ducking of Margartio, but CONVENIENTLY GLANCE OVER KEY FACTORS

                      1) HE WAS HAVING CONTRACTUAL ISSUES WITH ARUM
                      2) HE WAS WAITING FOR A FIGHT WITH DE LA HOYA
                      3) ON TOP OF THAT, HE WAS PLANNING TO FIGHT CORY SPINKS AT 154, BUT SPINK'S MANDATORY THREATENED LEGAL ACTION
                      4) TO BOOT, HE GOT PAID THE SAME CUT AGAINST BALDO PLUS PPV REVENUE...YOU SAY MARGARITO WAS THE BIGGER DRAW BASED ON NOTHING BUT YOUR OWN DAMN OPINION. THIS IS A DAMN FORUM; A FORUM IS A PLACE TO EXCHANGE IDEAS; IN AN EXCHANGE OF IDEAS, THE BEST IDEA AND FACTS COME OUT AND YET YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS VERY SIMPLE CONCEPT THAT YOU LEARN IN HIGH SCHOOL.
