Maidana has never faced anyone so fast, so accurate and someone who can run circles around him.
Khan does have a poor chin indeed, but he has trained to hold his ahnds up and has a completely different style, particular at 140.
Maidana will be hitting glove, getting hit by that mofo of a jab, and then that right and he will hit glvoe again.
His footwork is far too slow for a boxer. All his wins have been with guys who have a 50% lost ratio, or more than 5 loses, bar Ortiz and Cayo. The other issue is, both of those guys are green. He looks real good VS guys who come forward, and does break them down with his high workrate and power, but they are ****** and try to war with him.
Now Khan has been sparked the **** out too, and really badly, but with his new style, better gym, confidence in making weight easily and ATG trainer in Roach and Ariza helping him with conditioning and training, the kid has become damn hard to beat. Heck the Khan that lost to Prescott and dropped down by feather fisted guys could have been KO'd by Paulie.
Corley has lost many times and showed that Maidana's power can be slightly nuetralised with circling movement and hands up. However he is shot to bits.
Khan is young, hugnry and wants to prove **** and as a greedy young man, he wants to make money and Maidana will not get in the way of a potential Mayweather, Pacman, Bradley fight.
Now here is why Khan will beat his ass:
Speed. Khan is extremely fast and Maidana will be hit at will with that jab. His combinations are fast as hell.
Miadana is not slow as people say, but he does not control range well, he needs you to come close.
Khan A- Maidana B-
Accuracy. Khan is going to be very accurate since Maidana squares up so much and even when he holds the gloves up, he is defenceless straight in the middle, and Khan's shots are straight as anyone.
Maidana is wild, but can find the target, but a lot of shots miss, and that is not good VS someone who has fast footwork and mvoes in and out. Kotelnik controlled Maidana decent enough with a jab and high guard, and made Maidana miss and hit glvoe a lot.
Khan A- Maidana C+
Power. Maidana is extremely strong, he has bull like power and throws a lot, he can KO Khan for sure with a well timed shot after a good beat down. He has stopped a lot of his opponents.
Khan is fast and throws a lot himself, and his power is also there. He has fast hands that drop opponents, and dazes them. He has a jab that has been developed that can break Maidana down for sure. You can't get hit by that shot for 12 rounds without being hurt, no matter how much heart Maidana has.
Maidana A Khan B-
Offense
Khan fights most comfortable moving in and out of range, but his offense and picking shots is very good. He outworks you, hitting you a lot, controlling you in that ring. He breaks people down by hitting them a lot.
Maidana is an offensive fighter, totally going to war from round 1. He throws a lot of body shots and to the head and relies on breaking you down before the 12th.
Maidana A Khan A-
Defence Khan can be hit, but his defence is getting better because he holds his hands up all the time now. There are moments he does lose concentration. His lacks body and head movement though, or atleast it is minimal. His footwork is what he uses.
Maidana tends to square up and his hands go low. When he is out of range he brings his hands up, but is still open in the middle. He has no defence when he attacks.
Khan B+ Maidana C
Footwork Khan's footwork is giving him success. He is a good athlete and works hard. He still has issues, but it has improved to a point beyong what most at 140 can handle, particularly Maidana IMO. Paulie has good footwork and Khan surpassed him.
Maidana kind of does not have boxing footwork. He just goes with the flow and gets in when his opponent is hurt or on the ropes. Kotelnik showed me that just by moving backwards, Maidana missed a lot.
Khan B+ Maidana C-
Chin
Maidana has got a solid chin,. Been dropped 3 times vy Ortiz who does seem to hit hard. Dropped atleast once more in another fight. But he gets up and takes it. He hasn't been seriously hurt to me though.
Khan's chin has been questioned from as long as he has boxed. At 135, he has been dropped and hurt often and KTFO. At 140, he took shots that may have hurt him by light weights fighting at 135. Maybe it is better, we will find out.
Maidana A- Khan C-
Heart
Maidana obviously has heart to take the shots and make Ortiz quit.
Khan despite what people think, has heart, He has been hurt and got up. He even tried VS Prescott.
Madiana A- Khan B-
Experience
Maidana has fought Kotelnik and Oritz. Corley is a good test too.
Khan has fought Kotelnik, Paulie and Barrera. Both have some experience away from home, and a lot at home. Not at top world level though.
Khan B+ Maidana B+
Athleticism and body.
Khan has a tall frame, long arms and high stamina. He is strong and fast. Apart from his chin, he has a really good body for boxing.
Maidana has a decent height, decent size, not so fast, but has loads of power and stamina. Not a bad body for boxing at all.
Khan A Maidana B+
Khan has mroe advantages than Maidana. Everyone knows that to beat Khan, winning rounds is damn hard. You need to crack that chin. Prescott did, but can Maidana do that to the new and improved Khan?
Maidana has been beaten by Kotelnik, close fight, but he messed up by throwing at the gloves too much and then getting hit. Maidana can be dropped, and if it goes to 12, that is not a good thing at all.
In my view, skills pay the bills in this fight because Maidana does not have anything to neutralise Khan but a KO shot. If there was a time to bet on a Puncher's chance, this would be it, but I am going to stick with Khan, who I am a fan of, but also the far superior boxer.
As for my grading, I may be wrong on some, and found it ahrd to do, but that's just my own opinion. Feel free to comment and agree, disagree.
