Dumon: What was it like inside the ring with Floyd Mayweather, Jr?
Melligen: It was a good fight. I kept on attacking him and he kept on trash talking. “You can’t hit me. You can’t hit me.” It got my juices flowing which made me fight aggressive.
Dumon: Did Floyd Mayweather know that you are Filipino?
Melligen: Yes, he knew that I am Filipino but Floyd did not make any comments about my nationality.
Dumon: How many rounds did you spar?
Melligen: We sparred for about five rounds. This happened in 2009 at the Mayweather Gym (located in Las Vegas). I kept on going inside and tried to fight him inside.
Dumon: Did Floyd Mayweather ever give you any advice?
Melligen: He gave me advice on my footwork – to not be flatfooted. He told me to keep my heels off the floor. Floyd also told me to keep on fighting and that I’ll eventually improve and become a world champion.
Dumon: Who else did you spar with?
Melligen: I sparred with (WBC and IBF light welterweight champion) Devon Alexander and Marcos Maidana.
