At Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, a WBO featherweight eliminator saw Daniel Ponce De Leon (40-2, 33KOs) knock out Antonio Escalante (24-3, 15KOs) in three rounds with a deadly counter right hook. Ponce De Leon landed some very good punches in the first round when Escalante would leave himself open. Some good left hands by Ponce De Leon at the end of the second round and it was obvious that he was too big and strong for Escalante. During the third, Ponce De Leon landed a counter right hook that sent Escalante down and out cold on his back. The referee quickly stopped the fight.
