I'd still call them boxing fans, just not the sort of fans I'd care to be associated with.

      ****** thread.

Because I am a boxing fan I have to think every single fight is good? Do football fans think every game of football is fantastic?

      Moron.

I am a musician. That's my career so I hear, see, listen and watch more than most. I also love music of all sorts and yet I still hear **** and boring music all the time. Doesn't mean I'm not a huge music fan. I love it so much I devoted my life to it, but, I can still recognise bad music. I don't have to pretend for the sake of some snotty intellectual wank that I like it all, just because it's music and I'm a musician and music fan. That is a worse attitude than hating on everything that's even slightly out of your comfort zone.

I'm sick of all these wannabe faux boxing purists that don't have a damn clue and don't actually know much about the sport beyond now.
It's funny how you guys need to compare music to a sport to make your point.

Boxing is the ONLY SPORT (and it is a sport first) where the athlete has to worry about entertaining you. Do basketball, soccer, baseball players have to consider entertaining it's viewers? No, they just go out and play, win or lose and those who follow the sport, enjoy it.

When's the last time someone during a basketball game shouted, BORING. Give us more dunks!!!. It doesn't happen. That's what TS was getting at, but he didn't make his points effectively.

But as paying customers of a specific product we have every right to voice our opinions if we feel that said product doesn't deliver the goods. To deny that isn't being a 'real boxing fan', it's being a mindless stooge, the type of person the promoters love because they lap any old crap up without voicing a word of complaint. Your type of attitude is symptomatic of the worst type of snotty, snobby boxing fan: those who turn their nose up at others whilst simultaneously lacking any ability to descriminate the diamonds from the dross.

          Kindly bugger off.
You're sporting an avatar of Lennox Lewis - a guy who's heard it all about being boring boxer without a killer instinct. I suppose everybody is boring if you have Mike Tyson in your division.

Which Football? American Football or Soccer?

Because in both, the fans are too busy cheering for their team to win or lose to worry about whether the game's been entertaining.

I think the problem (particularly in America and I live in the U.S and am Citizen) is they don't give enough of a **** about their athletes. So paying to see a Action fight is their only interest. The Euro's support their own if they bring glory to their country, not in America the home of Hollywood stars.

I am a boxing fan. I consider myself to be a big one.

That doesn't mean I can't watch a fight and think "****, that was boring". Just like I am a big football (soccer) fan. I'm not going to sit through 90 minutes of rubbish in a 0-0 draw and come out saying it was amazing.

I don't hate a fighter just because they are boring, but if they are boring they are boring, that is it.

Bottom line - its ok to say that you find a fight/fighter boring. It doesn't make you less of a fan.

                Fair enough.

However to finish my point (and this may not address you, just in general), lack of identifying with the boxers is what makes a fan go, "Boringg!!!"

I find the Pinnoy fans on internet annoying but do you think that when they're watching Pacquiao fight, they're the least bit thinking about whether he is entertaining them. They want him to win because he represents them.

This lack of identification particularly in America is why Boxing is declining. The White fans are a dieing breed (the old timers are still following talking about the good old days), and the young ones are moving over to MMA because there are more Caucasian-American MMA fighters (mostly out of California) who are world class level. Not that many white U.S. boxers left.

Even African-Americans aren't as supportive of African-American fighters as they used to be. Back in the day, Joe Louis had parades of african-americans celebrating his victories after another famous (Bum of the month Club) title defense. Those days are gone.

You're from Australia, are you a fan of Danny Green by any chance? What if he became a major P4P player. That's someone you could identify with and not care whether he is boring. However there is nothing coming out of Australia making any noise (Since "Thunder from down Under" from back in the day), so you're stuck following foreign fighters you can't identify with.

I follow Australian fighters that I think uphold the values of the sport.

Katsidis is my favourite fighter right now. I'm not a fan of Green, he exploits the sport in this country.

I feel what ur saying but, you cant really go that hard on guys. Like one guy said "Some people prefer different styles". But at the same time I see guys go way to hard on guys for personal reasons.
Boxing is an art, so I love all parts of it. I love Floyds full game, only thing hes missing is the willingness slug. But at the same time its not called slug, its boxing.

B Hop is the closest to a boring fighter I can think of, but Im not gonna bash the guy because Im not interested in his style.
If I dont like a guys style, I just dont watch him, thats what a lot of guys need to learn on here. It gets pretty old hearing the same hate, just dont watch or pay attention to the guys you dont like.

                      How hard is that?
