Casual fan: I hear that little guy is fighting and knocking out much bigger men, wasn't he fighting 2 to 3 weight classes below 147 less than 2 years ago?

    Harcore boxing fan: Yes

Casual fan: That's pretty impressive considering he was fighting at much lower weight classes in the past 5 years, while Mayweather has been at 147 since 2005, same amount of years.

Hardcore fan: Yes, but Pac has cherry picked opponents which make him look good.

Casual fan: Who has he fought?

Hardcore fan: Cotto, Clottey and now Margarito

Casual fan: Who has Mayweather fought?

Hardcore fan: Marquez and a 38 year old Shane Mosley

Casual Fan: Marquez never fought at 147 before did he?

Hardcore fan: No he jumped up two weight classes and didn't carry the weight effectively at all.

Casual fan: So the only "real" welterweight Mayweather has faced since 2005, was a 38 year old Mosley?

    Hardcore fan: Yes

Obviously I'm joking, but you get the gist of where I'm headed with this and how both men might be viewed, when you put things in there proper context.

Additionally, according to your own statement above and it's something Mayweather has in fact said before, that he only fights for money. I'm not sure how or why anyone could/would support someone like that, it's not substantive and least of all inspiring.
Actually, I pretty much agree with you.

But nobody gives Mayweather any credit for the JMM win, even his *****ids.

    And, you are underestimating Mosley.

I got Shane giving Manny one hell of a fight.

To tell you the truth, I still don't think Freddie would let Shane anywhere near Manny.

I get your point about Mayweather, and I agree that he doesn't fight enough for the fans..... but Manny had his chance when Floyd was toeing the line back in January, and he blew it over blood testing rubbish.

And it is just as hard to be a Pacquiao fan right now, possibly even harder, what with the Clottey rubbish, and now Margo/Cotto.

Arum badly needs to come up with some justification in order to market the Margarito fight, and this "negotiation" bull**** just fits in perfectly

Got anything to add to the conversation genius ?

Or, are old movie links more your style ?

Any chance that you could answer my three questions?

Or are there no suitable movie links that you can think of

If Greenburg was telling the truth, then Bob Arum must have been lying ?

Because 9 days after Greenburg (apparently) started " negotiations ", Bob Arum himself confirmed that NO negotiations were currently underway, and Ellerbe confirmed that there were no negotiations scheduled for the immediate future.....

And yet again..... 12 days after Greenburg (apparently) started " negotiations ", Arum again confimed that NO negotiations were currently underway, and Schaefer himself confimed that there were no negotiations scheduled for the immediate future.....

Even as late as 7 weeks after Greenburg (apparently) started " negotiations ", Bob Arum still insisted that GBP were representing Mayweather..... “ Patience, patience, patience, ” said Arum, who has been in the thick of negotiations with Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) regarding what is expected to be the richest fight in boxing history.....

In fact, the first time that I can recall Greenberg even being mentioned, was during Arum's conference call.

                  * The first word of Pacquiao-Mayweather negotiations beginning came from Arum’s mouth.

                  * The “gag order” provision also came from Arum.

                  * everything we’ve heard about these “negotiations” has come from Arum…

I would be on the fence regarding who to believe if Arum had not established a long history of lying about the progress and status of behind-the-scenes fight negotiations. Paul Magno:

So who is the liar dude..... Greenburg or Arum ?
