Do you like boxers on commentary?

I know everyone hates Lennox Lewis, but aside from him do you tend to like or dislike having a boxers voice on commentary as the 3rd man. I think theyre usually horrible but occasionally entertaining for the wrong reasons. The best had to be just listening to Marvin Hagler commentating on Hearns-Leonard II. He so clearly hated both men, wouldn't give either any credit, but hated Leonard most, because he was blatently cheering for Herns during the fight. He actually yelled "Come on Tommy! Come on Tommy!" right over the other two at certain points. So funny

I am kind of WTF at the decision though, especially the 10-8 from shirley in the 12th round. garbage

whyd they never have a 3rd fight?

Depends on the fighter, Leonard and Jones used to be really good behind the mic and gave insightful analysis of what was going on.

nah I like 'em. Adds character

Although Foreman was always against fighters going to the ropes in his commentary... I wonder why

I've liked what I've heard/seen from Antonio Tarver on the Showtime broadcasts. But the other guys Lennox Lewis, George Foreman and Roy Jones Jr to some degree I can pretty much do without. Having a fighter on there or even a trainer like Emanuel Stewart is only good if they can convey the insight they have in a manner where you can understand them.

I like Tarver better as a commentator than a fighter. Jones was good. Foreman was the worst, he was like John Madden to the NFL. Big cuddley friendly guy with nothing to say.

Depends on the fighter I like Tarver, Jones, and Leonard for what they say about what is going on. I like Lennox because he cracks me up.

I am however happy I never have to listen to Foreman do another fight again.

I like Tarver as well and agree with you on Foreman. Although, I kinda miss the bickering he had with Merchant, lmao. It was like two kids arguing.

Regarding the thread subject. Well, it depends who they get. I noticed that most fighters don't really do much analysis. They'll say a few things here and there, and stay quiet for the most part.
