Gennady Golovkin vs. Ishe Smith on Nov 21

This fight will be on the Nov 21 Universum card in Germany, along with Fragomeni vs. Erdei.

It's been made for weeks now, although it's still not on BoxRec. There is an article on the boxing talk website where Ishe Smith is interviewed about the fight - he says his last opponent Jacobs is much better than Golovkin, and that he will win this fight easily.

Can Golovkin become the first to stop Smith? Or will Smith cruise to an easy win, as he's predicting?

Golovkin will win, but I don't think he'll look good doing it.

Judging by his amateur wins over Andre Dirrell (2004 Olympics), Matvey Korobov, Lucian Bute (by KO in 2003 world amateurs), John Duddy and Andy Lee, plus a lot of impressive performances over journeymen as a pro, Golovkin should be able to defeat Smith. Anything is possible, though.

I just hope he finally gets a title shot after this fight! Universum/Spotlight has been moving him MUCH too slowly.

Lol Ishe Smith off the contender?

I don't know much about Golovkin but looking at his track record I would hope smith wont be too much of a problem for him

It's interesting, Dirrell and Golovkin beat one another in the amateurs. However, Golovkin won when the fight was more important.

Ishe is just a very savvy veteran who has a tough style to look good against.

Golovkin will win by decision. He may be a hard hitter but Ishe Simth is hands down the best and toughest fighter he has ever faced.

I took a look through Golovkin's amateur record, and it shows he fought Dirrell only once, in the 2004 Olympics. However, it only shows his record from major world/Asian/international tournaments. Do you have a source?

How many times have we seen Ishe Smith not do enough to win?

There was Powell, Julio and who did he fight last, ah Jacobs.

Yes. This is list of results from Team USA during 2003. It says Dirrell beat him 15-14 during a USA-Kazakhstan dual in May; I believe it's on the 23rd page, or around there.

This was an article written after Dirrell's lost to Golovkin in Athens. It mentions his prior victory over Golovkin.
