Before the first fight, I predicted that Usyk would outbox Fury and win on the scorecards which is exactly what happened (the lone scorecard in Fury’s favour was a complete JOKE considering the knockdown). Also, Usyk could’ve arguably had a STOPPAGE in round 9 if the referee had been doing his job properly.
Anyhow, Fury definitely had a LOT of success to the head and body in the mid rounds and wobbled Usyk a few times with some well timed uppercuts. In fact, after the first fight, I remember posting that if Fury wants to win the rematch, he needs to approach the fight the same way as Fury-Wilder 2 and fight on the front foot trying to take Usyk’s head off from round one.
Therefore, I’m NOT surprised to see that Fury’s come in 20lbs heavier for the rematch and seems much more serious and focused saying things like ‘I’m going to do this ****er some serious damage!’
Clearly, he realises that his BEST chance of winning is to knock Usyk out and a few of those hooks to the body and uppercuts to the head could have a different impact with 20lbs ADDITIONAL weight behind them.
However, by carrying this extra weight, Fury will also be more stationary and easier to hit than in the first fight which could make it even EASIER for Usyk to outbox him but probably NOT drop him or knock him out which is probably what Fury was also worried about.
My prediction is that Usyk will again outbox Fury (and possibly stop him) but it’ll be interesting to see how the additional weight and Fury’s aggressive fight strategy plays out.
