It's a shame she doesn't have someone like Anne Wolfe that could give her a proper test. Anne was a savage in the ring and displayed power and a penchant for violence that would have made things interesting.

I have tried to like and appreciate Shields but it's tough with some of the antics surrounding her. The beatdown of James Bashir Ali standing out in my head....and as I'm watching the fight last night, I believe I heard her followers chant "whoop that trick"...classy.
You and me both have the same train of thought. I like Shields. She can come off sometimes as arrogant but she is legitimately the most accomplished female boxer of all time. Two gold medals, still undefeated, first fighter to be undisputed in two weight classes in the 4 belt era, unified in a third, and now added heavyweight champion to her accomplishments. We will not see that again in our lifetime.

However, the chant from the crowd was a little bit too much. “Whoop that trick”? C’mon…I love Shields as much as her most staunch supporters but that was a little bit over the top.

It’s not so much herself specifically, but the people around her sound like they’re not necessarily there for the love of sport, but more just to see Shields point blank period.

The answer is very simple. She is such a nasty itch and talks so horrible about her opponents. She tried that with a 130 pound amateur white boy in sparring and got KTFO. After, she lied and accused the fighters trainer of tainting the gloves. She’s a horrible, nasty, ****** and calls herself the GWOAT. Imagine how bad Wolfe and Laila would beat her arse. Showtime got rid of her after her father told her brother to attack a 70 year old trainer at a weigh in.

      Pure ****** trash.

Yeah, that's the major turnoff for me. I get her frustration too, she's incredibly skilled and accomplished but other female fighters current and past have received more buzz and and likely more revenue. Women that might be more attractive, more polished and, let's face it, more white might be able to cash in.

The other thing lacking is a rival that can push her and make things compelling. It was supposed to be Christina Hammer but that was a farce, Hammer was nowhere near her level. Then came Savannah Marshall and we saw how that unfolded....

I hate to do mythical matchups but I think Anne Wolfe could have probably pushed her a bit although Shields most likely wins. Anne wasn't as polished but she was violent and she was relentless.

Claressa is a great fighter whose best attributes won’t shine through until she fights someone good enough where she has to put them on display, though occasionally she has.

When she fought Savannah occasionally I thought that maybe by fight night she’d get beaten. Sometimes fighters from the past just have someone’s number. I sometimes thought that maybe with that thorn in Shields’ side since forever and her fighting in enemy territory that maybe she’d get too hotheaded and run into something. Boy, she put those fears to bed quickly. I was surprised how slick she was slipping and rolling on the ropes…hugely underrated defense.

Last night that weaving and counter was beautiful. I’m sure a lot of what propels her are her detractors and what she reads online (she is on social media A LOT).

The Baumgardner fight would be big but 1-)absolutely no way in hell does Claressa make anything below 168 (even if she’s said she does) and 2-) where is this supposed animosity that they’re showing (as I understood, they’re friends)? Claressa was at Baumgardner’s last fight to support her.

If she was at the lower weight classes, she would’ve taken on Katie and Serrano a long time ago with how big her ego is, and beaten them both. She fights like she has a huge chip on her shoulder.

Does the temperature on your passion thermometer reach its boiling point if someone suggest Caitlyn Clark shouldn't talk as much trash as Micheal Jordan. Cmon just let her have the night!
One of the best and competitive fights I have seen was Serrano vs Taylor. A lot of skill and thrill! Those women have the right to talk like they're the greatest, but are humble and give women's boxing a great name! Shields says she's the greatest and acted like she beat the female version of Sonny Liston! The woman she beat had no skill! BTW, Caitlyn Clark and Michael Jordan proved and prove it out on the court! They play the best and beat the best! They're not out there tooting they're own horn! They let their fans call them great off of their achievements.

Seriously, Pillow Fists was calling out Keith Thurman, when in fact, a 130 pound amateur white boy KHTFO in sparring with headgear on no less.

The real GWOATis Ann Wolfe who would have beat Pillow Fists like a rag doll. In this current era, Katie Taylor is the real GWOAT and not this foul mouth, hood rat better know as Pillow Fists.
So because she’s a bye product of her environment that makes her a hoodrat?
