Comments Thread For: Michael Conlan salutes the runners who gave him inner peace ahead of his 'final roll of the dice'

After Michael Conlan's career was left in ruins, he began a search for answers. The Irish superstar took to the roads, running, spending time with his thoughts, his hopes and his shattered dreams.

Conlan should stay retired, he looks like a shot fighter. That Wood war took an awful lot out of him I think.

When you aren't a puncher, not particularly fast or elusive, keep getting knocked out, have ZERO wins over top 10 opponent and you are not young.....

If Conlan's name were Lopez or Washington, he wouldnt have gotten much press....Irish votes are important, at least in the US

It was definitely got caught with a punch when he got dropped the first time against wood. He didn't slip, but conlan was a very good amateur but as a pro he don't have the power or the punch resistance to be the guy at world level. He got taken apart and knocked out by Gill who is a European fighter. Just never looked the same fighter after the wood fight that was a gruelling fight where he got badly knocked out and since then he's been badly stopped twice

If Conlan keeps getting knocked out like that, and perhaps landing again on his head as in the Wood fight, he might be finding another kind of "inner peace" sooner than he wishes.

im surprised hes back, it really looks a very long shot he gets where he wants to go but u never know with clever matchmaking i guess, he needs to focus on avoiding punches

Running is 1 of the best therapies. You can start off on a run feeling down, even while your running your thoughts can race, but at the end you always feel good.

This dude Conlan should take Time off and comeback in BKFC. He'd be a champ there for sure and with McGregor as part owner, he will definitely be a Star in that organization.

I feel for this dude. So close to being a world champ, only to never be the same. Kind of like Meldrick Taylor, though he at least still won another title or two. But Conlan does NOT want to end up half brain dead like Taylor. Other ones come to mind - Jermain Taylor (what's with the Taylors, lol?) vs. Calzaghe or Abraham...oh so close, but yet so far. I think the issue is, he's not a shot fighter outside of the chin being gone. He cannot take a clean hard shot. He was never a great boxer, but a good enough one, but if he can't take a shot, it's all pointless.
