I'd agree with the comment that the build up was vile. None of it entertained, it simply worked to make the whole contest less appealing. Garcia still seems like a loose cannon. Haney's claim that he slept on the left hook is plainly nonsense -- you don't forget about the big weapon of your opponent in the first round. He was simply unable to cope, and one of the reasons will be the thing they realy slept on: letting Ryan get away with the weight advantage. Total complacency and they've paid for it with a loss. The whole Haney camp was hoodwinked.

Also hilarious that Haney complained that the ref let Garcia hold too much. Pot, kettle...

Look at all these know nothings trying to save face and still come down on Garcia. He was 100% correct in his post fight interview when he said something to the effect of it doesn’t matter what he does he’ll still have his haters. He was correct having read the supposed all knowledgeable “staff reactions.”

But in this case, it most definitely DOES mean something. Garcia himself said he could not, and would not, make the last 3.5 pounds because it would leave him depleted. So, by his own words, it was advantageous for him to come in overweight. Shame on him for not making the contracted weight, yes, but shame on Haney for allowing that to happen (albeit with monetary compensation).
So, again, the 3lbs means something, because it would have depleted Ryan and made it difficult for him to fight the next day. Both guys looks about the same weight come fight night, but Ryan was not hurting the day prior, and that didn't carry over to Saturday night. There is most definitely merit to coming in heavy the day before.

I'd bet that Garcia never had intention to make weight and so his dumb hype up was actually simply to lull Haney and the bookmakers into thinking he was without hope, rather than seeing an OP monster on thr scales
