Just imagine if Tommy Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard were at WW now in their prime

    Just imagine if Tommy Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard were at WW now in their prime

    I like this era of WW but I just don't see Pac or Floyd moving up to face someone like Hearns or Leonard in their prime at WW. And even though Floyd might move up to WW even with them there, I doubt he fights them. It would be funny hearing him get out of fighting them with them not being worthy and all.

    I was thinking about this when I was going over some past and recent fighters move up in weight and how timing is everything. Some fighters are lucky they don't have to fight certain fighters on the ATG list in history in those divisions. Like if we were to list all the ATG and put them in a division in fantasy world, how many fighters could continue to move up and beat ATG fighters so they can claim they were legit 2, 3, 4, etc. division Champs?
    Imagine just one belt also.

    Cotto, big fan but he gets KTFO by Tommy Hearns.

    again, thats the dumbest thing in the world to say when it comes to Floyd. You can say that about the other WW's because they are natural but you are trying to compare a Mayweather in his 4th weight class to SRL & Hearns in there 1st when they were huge at the weight. If you want to compare them then do it in a P4P sense. Compare Floyd at SFW to those guys at WW. If you do it that way then he more then holds his own and is arguably better. Akso compare them at there 4th weight class to Floyd at WW. Its no comparison. Dont let your hate blind your boxing knowledge

      You have guys like Floyd that brag about 4+ belts in several divisions, but how big of a deal is it when you get those belts based on timing and fighting certain fighters?
      Yes, still an accomplishment but a lot goes into it.

        That doesnt even make sense. Everyone has there own era and you fight the guys thats in it. Its not like Hearns & SRL were unbeatable. SRL did lose to a LW and Hearns has one of the worst chins in history. Would Floyd beat them at WW? Up until the JMM fight I wouldve said NO because he never seemed big enough. Now, maybe but I still doubt it. The point is that still doesnt take anything away from him as a fighter because he cant beat 2 of the ATG's at there 1st & best weight class while he's in his 4th. I will put Floyd up against pretty much anyone in history at 130-140. I think he would fight any ATG at those weights. The belt stuff is pretty ****** anyways because there are so many different ways to get a belt. Even if there was only 1 belt, that still doesnt guarantee that an ATG wouldve held it. Most considered Baldy & Zab to be the real champs at WW. There were alot of other belt holders at WW in the old days that Floyd wouldve beat

          i dont know if they could take one of those belts...but i'm sure these modern day warriors, even floyd would make an attempt at it...for one simple reason; money

          imagine how huge Tommy or Leonard would be in today's market? those would be $20mil paydays

              "IF" Tommy Hearns and SRL were in today's era...right now...in their prime....and there was only one belt and let's say Tommy has it...does Floyd or Pac move up to fight them and if so, can they get that belt so they can say they won a belt in {place number} divisions?

              Now imagine if all the divisions were flooded with ATG having the 1 Title in each division. How many fighters throughout history could continue to move up and claim a title from the best ATG in each division?

              Example: Duran at 135; Pryor at 140; Hearns at 147; etc. Your pick of ATG Champion in each division. Just throwing names out there.

                Well Duran already moved up and beat SRL. Then could Floyd or Pryor move up and beat him? Theyre are so many things that could happened. If Duran left to fight SRL then he wouldve gave up his LW title and someone else wouldve had that. I mean, theyre all great fighters and anything could happened

                    True...but the original point still goes back to how much value should we place on winning belts in several divisions. I just wonder how many could do it if they had to face certain fighters on the ATG list. It goes with "Who did you beat" and of course, when at what point in their career did you beat them. Timing and circumstances are a big deal in how history is shaped.

                    SRL fighting the wrong fight against Duran was something big in the sport on the psychology of fighting...as well as his rematch with Duran.
