Comments Thread For: Niyomtrong-Rosa Title Consolidation Bout Canceled; Rosa Remains In Thailand, Unable To Return Home

The next job for Erick Rosa is to return home. Unfortunately, he will return empty handed to the Dominican Republic. krikya360.com has confirmed that Rosa's challenge of WBA 'Super' strawweight titlist Thammanoon Niyomtrong is no longer in play. Their title consolidation fight was due to take place March 1 in Nakhon Sawan, Thailand, though the fight was jeopardized once the unbeaten Dominican southpaw was detained by Thai immigration officials upon arriving in the country on Monday.

What kinda of sh** is that? We are going to hold you in the country because your Valid passport is going to expire in 2 months? Hey because your not supposed to be in our country we are going to keep you here.... Why not just send him home then?

Why is Boxing Scene only interviewing one side? Are the Thais denying interviews?

This is a very interesting situation. Unfortunately it probably takes a Hauser to get to the bottom of it.

This whole situation sounds fishy as hell. And the fact that the other side is not saying much sounds even crazier. I'm thinking if the fight was for March 1 that there was more than enough time to resolve any issue there might be. To add insult to injury I wouldn't be surprised if they allow him to go home on March 2nd, a day after the fight should have taken place. What a joke that is. I feel bad for the kid.

This is incredibly su****ious, hopefully the WBA recorders, but it sounds like the Thai promoter probably paid a really significant ‘consulting’ fee

unprofessional on both sides - Rosa should have had a new passport a year ago - but damn! the Thai immigration being unduly heavy handed - in the remaining days an emergency temp passport could have been issues by a Dominican Embassy or even FedExed from D.R - sounds like more money in keeping the champion as challenger than with the fight - probably makes more in promo fees and sponsorship every year

With all the suspect stuff going on in regards to this fight, only thing that comes to mind is that the Thai want their guy to stay as champion for monetary reasons and probably thought Rosa was gonna wreck their guy and their gravy train.
