Yes but WBC backing Valdez put him in a very bad position and I'm sure there would have been a lot of pressure from TR on him to go through with the fight.

Such a small amount that the other prominent testing agency did not even consider it a failed test and so they went with that one. I see this as a better result than suspensions and fight cancellations. Not a significant amount, and it was an amphetamine, not a steroid or human growth hormone. Seems safe to compete and they both wanted to beforehand.Testing is to random to be completely encompassing, clean sports are ideal, but not realistic.I do not like this look from Conceicao.

Valdez cheats and still loses to Conceicao so has to cheat again with the judges. Canelo cheats and still loses to Golovkin so has to cheat again with the judges. =Boxing.

If it was the contender testing positive for banned substances instead of cash-cow Valdez, you can bet your backside Conceição would've been sent back to Brazil. Valdez cheated and should not have been able to fight. Moreover, Robson schooled him and earned at least a draw. So it's a double whammy of boxing corruption which is understandable considering Valdez is considered a very profitable fighter for Bob Arum.

I work in an industry that requires drug testing. One bust, you’re unemployable in this industry for 5 years. Second bust, banned for life.

Boxing should do likewise. We all see fighters whose spectacular muscle development is found nowhere in nature except in juiced humans. Boxing is already a seriously hurtin’ sport. A guy who comes to the ring with a crazy enhanced musculature is more than just a cheater. In combat sports, he can also be a killer. Those in charge of the sport need to be cracking down on drug cheats with this in mind.

One of the results of PEDs can be enlarging and thickening of the skull. When baseball cheater Barry Bonds was juicing, his hat size famously grew by several numbers. In boxing, juicers can end up with these big, square, cinder block heads that make them very difficult to deal with using non-enhanced punching power.

The richest and by far the most famous drug cheater in our time is Canelo Alvarez. Whenever I see this guy fight, I am always looking at his T-rex sized head wondering if it really grew that way on its own. After his drug bust and embarrassingly lame excuse about the Mexican meat, I will never look upon this man as a true champion. I will always think of him as the Lance Armstrong of boxing -- a man who could have been the best on his own, and trashed it all because he cared more about money and cheap victory than the true glory that comes through the pain and sweat of honest achievement.

I agree that doping violation should be dealt with much more severely than it is at present.
However, there still needs to be done contingency for the occasional genuine case of a fighter somehow unintentionally ending up with having ingested some banned substance.
I don't know enough about the processes to known if/how this could be done, and also realise that it'll be the "go to" excuse for all the dopers - just like it is now.
So maybe automatic 1 year ban for first offence, with discretion for it to be linger for high levels or whatever?
After that, any further offences its lifetime ban.

Coming up dirty on these anti doping test, must be thoroughly investigated by the governing bodies.
I'll settle for 2 and done, but problem is no suspension for Oscar Valdez, and a 6 months suspension for Canelo Alvarez that's outrageous.
Other fighters are suspended for 1 year, and that should be the standard for first time offender's, and then your out of the sport for good.
If the fans continue to complain, and stop supporting fighters who come up dirty then the necessary changes will take place.
If it's not a fair fight, then the cheater has the advantage, and in the worst case scenario it's a tragedy waiting to happen.
