Sonny Liston had a 83 inch reach and was solid as hell. A lot of today's big heavyweights are carrying alot of fat,and when Ali beat Liston he was past his best

Now in today's weight classes, he'd be better off a Cruiserweight. The guys he fought or who "avoided" him were on average, 6'. Among the tallest of the top HW's he fought was Ali, who was 6'3", 210lbs. Prime Ali weighed around 210-215, as he got older he started weighed 220lbs. Keep that in mind. Ali stopped Liston twice. In the rematch, in 1 round. HW's today are much more powerful, because they are so much bigger. The issue for Liston would be, they are not big/tall like Valuev (slow), they are big and retain athleticism.

      Okay now we have 240-270lb, 6'5" - 6'9 Heavyweights.

These things matter in boxing. There comes a point where size overcomes skill. For example, there's only so much weight Mayweather or Pacquiao can overcome. Like no one would expect Pacquiao to fight GGG at 160lbs. Pacquiao is the better fighter, yes, but the size would be too much. Nobody expects GGG to fight Beterbiev at 175lbs.

Sonny Liston today, would be similar in size, in the ring, on fight night, as the Cruiserweights.

I am not entirely sure why fans ignore the size and strength differences between athletes as the decades pass by. It's like people saying the baseball pitchers of the past would strike out the batters of today. The pitchers of the golden era of baseball pitched 80-83mph, that was blazing fast. Today, an 80mph fastball would get you kicked out of the MLB. That's a meatball, a home run derby pitch. I threw 80mph at 18 years old, that's a scrub. Won't even get me looked at. In baseball's inception however, i'd have gotten signed. You now have baseball players who are 6'7", 285lbs and are the fastest runners in their team. Times have changed. Jerry West of the Lakers was an All-Star, amazing player of his time, Hall of Famer, MVP, NBA champ, scoring champ, and so on. He would most likely not be as successful today. Probably nowhere near as successful.

Same goes for boxing. Boxing is not immune to the changes in sports. Henry Armstrong's technique and style, in the few footages that exists of him, he probably wouldn't do too well vs the likes Pacquiao, Mayweather, Canelo.

Fans can ignore changes all they want, and deny that the changes matter. It can't ever be proven false, but it's something so obvious that one has to be delusional to ignore it.
      Good post!

They are going to be coming after Fury every single time.
Fury spars without a headguard and he'll be rotating his sparring partners so that after the first few rounds they'll be coming in fresher than him. It would be miraculous if he could do that with high calibre prospects and not get touched up from time to time.

Mayweather used to fight 15 rounds with 30 second breaks rotating sparring partners in and out every three or so rounds...And guess what? There used to be rumors all the time that this fighter got the better of him or this fighter got the better of him...This kind of stuff happens. Point of sparring is to get ready for the fight where the sparring was actually harder.

Whilst cleaning up I knocked the TV with my hoover pipe and I swear to god Malik Scott fell over!

seriously, this is as accurate as the “rumour” Wilder recieved that Fury has his eye bust open, the same cut wallin gave him. Fury then came to the presser and weigh in with glasses and wilder was then convinced. Fury is a king at mind games and rumours. He’s also brilliant at convincing opps that he’s scared of em. Then they get in the ring and have they’re souls taken.

love how you wilder fanboys call Tyson a cheat, yet keep it schtum when it comes to DEONTAY’S BROTHER MARCELLUS!????

There were a lot of tickets available within two weeks of the fight so I would call bs on that. The second fight did worse PPV numbers than the first and this one has less intrigue than that.
Point still stands. July or November Fury is still the superior fighter and he showed that twice. What’s Wilder done to show you it’s going to be different?

And this why wilder is so terrible. He insulates his camps with a bunch of yes men, joeys and cheerleaders. He finds weak sparring to gain a false sense of security. Will always be Wilders downfall.

Nothing. But he said he got cheated so these trolls run with it. But don’t like to speak on Deontay’s own family been a cheater.

Has it done Joshua any harm? It doesn't appear so, in fact it's improved him.

You have to experience tough times to get through tough times.

Yeah this exactly. They also like to ignore how Wlad put the beats on wilder so bad he ended up getting his manager to tell the world how he will never fight Wlad lmfao. Never even wanted the chance for some reason. Why is that wilder fans?

Lmfao. You just proven the other guys point you dummy. Wilder can’t sell pies to an obese guy. If he was such a huge name he wouldn’t have to lift a finger an all tickets would be gone.

fury would sell out more tickets in HIS OWN COUNTRY.
                      Than what
wilder would sell in HIS OWN COUNTRY. and wilder would have the access to a much larger pool of people aswell!!
