Comments Thread For: Charlo-Castano Was A Great Fight. It's A Shame Nelson Vazquez Missed It

By Corey Erdman - After fighting to a draw with Brian Castano on Saturday night in San Antonio, Jermell Charlo didn't seem bothered in the way many fighters do after a draw. With very few exceptions, fighters believe that any fight they were involved in that was scored closely should have gone in their favor. Though Charlo too believed that he ought to have been declared the winner of the bout, he seemed to reject the notion that it was wholly unjust, or that the result was something to be overly disappointed in.

Nelson Vasquez should never work again! That being said, the draw was not a robbery! Castano does need some changes! You can't lose the last 4 rounds like that! No bueno!

DANGER. The division is now a shambles... Costano.. if you read this... You might as well come to Australia and get robbed.. at least youd get double the pay....but you will be robbed every where because your not a star, you cant speak English..your not good looking, your not flashy, and your to nice a guy.... Not enough pay per view buys... Thats boxing....champ

I scored this fight a draw. It could've gone either way. It can't be claimed that either fighter won in convincing fashion. With this being said, nothing is worse than bad referees and terrible judges. Folks like Vazquez, Julie Lederman , and Kenny Bayless needs to be investigated and then fired. I'm tired of the incompetence!

Only saw the final part of the fight, and then some highlights.

what is the honest assessment of this scorecard. We’re there a lot of swing rounds in which this judge gave them all to charlo?
were there tougher rounds to score?

could it be he favoured a certain “style”?

Or did this look like a crooked judge being caught out

I was good with the draw with Castano slightly ahead. 117-111 was pathetic.

The draw could have been conceivable based on Charlo’s late rally. He needed it though. I thought the network score having Charlo behind by 4 after 8, was already being generous as far as “swing rounds” are concerned. He needed the last four for a draw, kds or ko for the win.

How did one judge come up with 114-113? Did he deduct a point from Castano for not reading the script?
