Of course I don't expect him to. But I know the weight was the biggest issue for a lot of people when the fight got signed. Would your opinion change about the fight at all if Mayweather weighed in at lets say...142lbs or even 141lbs? Just curious if this would matter.Would it benefit JMM if Mayweather did this? Would the lower weight help Mayweather's speed? Discuss.

Did the lower weight help De La Hoya?

I was about to type that it would be unfair to JMM, because if he knew he could make weight, he shouldn't have forced JMM to gain unnecessary weight.

But, as I thought about it, I wouldn't think anything other than Floyd is still in great shape. The fact that the fight is at 144 should change nothing for Marquez. He trained to gain weight, and that IMO was a bad strategy.

When Pac-Oscar was announced I predicted Pac would win easily. Most people said he'd have to gain too much weight and would be slow, but I said that he wouldn't have to gain ANY weight, the only difference would be he wouldn't have to drain himself for weigh-ins. This was because Pac gets into the ring in the high 140s. JMM goes into the ring in the low 140s, so why would he gain weight (which could make him lose speed), only to drain himself the day before the weight-in (which could make him lose stamina)? It's not like Floyd is Cotto who comes into the ring at 160, he comes in in the high 140s, just a couple of pounds more than JMM. The difference is not that big, so whether the weigh-in limit was 140, 144, or 147, it's all irrelevant.

dlh usually rehydrates over 160 lbs.

          floyd barely reaches 154 lbs.

doesn't make sense to compare them.

Whatever Floyd weighs in at, he'll weigh just about the same on fight night.

I won't be surprised if Marquez outweighs Floyd on fight night. But Floyd will still destroy him.

I'd be pretty surprised. Of course it'd help JMM a lil bit, but not much.

i think people will be suprised come fight night when you see them in the same ring together..that there wont be that big of a difference..because there isnt much difference in there actual body size..remember floyd was a 130 lber at one time..trust me marquez is not at as much at a disadvantage as people are making it out to be, believe it or not.

I'd be surprised. Won't change the outcome though.
