I dont consider the Margarito fight a loss. Cotto doesnt have to redeem himself in my opinion.

If cotto wins will he redeem himself

i wouldn't say this fully redeems Cotto.
A rematch with Margarito would redeem Cotto, that is if he does go on to win the fight.

Redeem himself from what? All these fools who thinks the loss makes him any less of a fighter are fanboys plain and simple and their opinions mean nothing to anyone who knows anything about boxing. Real fighters lose because they push themselves and test themselves against the best.

It will somewhat. But that doesn't mean he's gonna get a pass from me if he goes back to fighting guys like Michael Jennings and Alfonzo Gomez. Cotto should have more control over who he fights after his contract will be up with Arum. And he needs to use that freedom to give fans the right fights like he is doing against Clottey. Even if Cotto wins this fight, I still want to see him rematch Shane Mosley in Vegas. I know Cotto is a bigger draw at the gate than Shane is, but he needs to return the favor of fighting outside of his comfort zone. That first fight was not conclusive at all to me. And I think this rematch will happen because Shane will wise up and realize that Pacquiao isn't gonna fight him at all. And Cotto knows that Arum hasn't really looked out for his best interests when it comes to getting him recognition of being in the driver's seat. Sure, Arum has probably paid Cotto well. After all, Cotto got 3 mill to fight Jennings, but Arum has kept him away from the big fights like the one with Mayweather and even DLH somewhat. I have my reservations about whether DLH would have fought him if he beat Margarito. I hope Cotto wants to be the recognized champ of the division and not leave any loose ends. And I hope Shane does too.

Cotto/Clottey has no bearing on what happened in the Cotto/Margarito fight.....don't know why anyone would think it would.
