Why Is Floyd Considered A Pot Shot Guy So Much?

This is a long thread but please read because I want to know everyone's true answer. This is a serious question so no flaming. Theyre are no right or wrong answers, just people's different opinion's. People make it sound like that all he does is pot shot in every single fight and is super boring to watch but the truth is that he's had 39 fights in his career and has only fought that way like a handful of times. He threw a ton of punches at 130. He then pot shot some against JLC because he was just so much bigger & stronger then Floyd at the time. He did it again some to Sosa but I think that was more of a carry over from the JLC fight where it took him another fight to get back right. After that he threw a ton against N'Dou and stopped him in 7 after dropping him multiple times, he then moved up to 140 and threw a bunch of punches in a super exciting fight against Chop where he dropped him twice, he again stopped Bruseles in the 8th round of the next fight, he threw a ton against Gatti and stopped him in 6, he then moved up to WW where he walked Mitchell down the whole fight and stopped him in 6, and he had a pretty exciting fight with Zab. Now he didnt let his hands go as much with Mitchell & Zab but thats just because they were Southpaws but he still walked both guys down the whole fight and caught them whenever they stopped. He still thew alot of combos against Mitchell. Not as much against Zab but thats because he didnt want to get caught like he did against Chop. If Zab was a righty then Floyd wouldve thrown even more.

Now no doubt he straight pot shotted against Baldy & Oscar but I dont think there's any coincedence that his main pot shot fights were against JLC, Baldy, and Oscar who were probably the 3 biggest & strongest guys he fought who all outweighed him by a ton in the ring. He came back the next fight and stopped Hatton. He pot shotted some early but I compare that to like the Sosa fight where I think there was just a little carry over and the fact that Hatton was just bullying his way in and smothering Floyd's punches but he so overdid it because Stewart and Hatton's own corner said the whole fight that he's so close that he's even smothering his own punch. Any time there was some distance then Floyd let his hands go. This is a real thread and Im not talking trash at all. I really want to know why people think this because I dont see it. In most fights he lets his hands go. I hear everyone saying that he will pot shot JMM & Pac and run from them or the JMM fight will be boring because they are both counter punchers. I heard someone saying that JMM needs sparring parterns who will run and pot shot and I just totally disagree. I honestly beleive that Floyd will bring the fight to both JMM & Pac. He'll really bring it to JMM because he's a righty and I dont beleive that Floyd thinks a righty can hit him clean in his prime so he wont hold back at all. I also think he will walk Pac down but do it slowly because of the same reasons he did in the Zab fight.

Pac is a fast powerful Southpaw who could catch him but I think Floyd lets his hands go more then he did against Zab because Pac will be trying to fight back and let his hands go even though Floyd will be forcing him back. I also beleive that after those 2 then he will fight Mosley and again I dont see him pot shotting in that fight because of the style. I also dont think he would pot shot at all against Berto & Clottey. However, I could easily see him pot shotting against Margarito & Cotto because they have that bullying style. He may let his hands go against Margarito since he's so slow and less skilled but I could see him pot shotting in those 2 but I think its so overblown how Floyd fights super defensive, runs, and pot shots. Its just that the Oscar & Baldy fights are so fresh in people's mind. I have a bad feeling that he's going to take the fight to JMM & Pac and everyone will say that it proves that they were much smaller then him because Floyd never fights that way but the truth is he fights like that all the time. He's done it in probably 33 of his 39 fights. I think its a serious misconception. What do you guys think? I could be wrong since alot of people feel the other way but look at the vids that were just posted on the net. Most of those fights were recent for Floyd but its like people only remember JLC, Baldy, and Oscar

Damn man. You really luv this **** don't you? Anyway, Mr boat buyer is a pot shot guy now. His days of rainin mad combos ended a long time ago. He went hard at Hatton in rds 8-9, but past that since he left 140 he's a pot shot guy.

he relies on more on this technique mainly bcoz he either feels he doesn't hav the power to KO an opponent in the higher weight classes...

        or...

he is simply just protecting those brittle hands...

This iis a easy one DLT surely you know the answer but I will tell you anyways....is hands are like single pane window glass....He is afraid to throw to many punches and hard because he might break one or both of them...A fighter builds up fulid in his knuckles and in wrist from constant impact and absorbing the shock from it....I can crack my knuckles all day by simply closing my hands and I only boxed for a solid 4-5 years....Imagine boxng for 20-25 years and pounding your hands everyday against leather and other hard surfaces??? Now imagine having bad hands genetically to begin with? He has what we call in the fight game b!tch hands...no diss to him but it is what it is...So that combined with his deffesively minded style and movement have made him a counter puncher...He reads the other fighter and once he gets the other fighters rythem and speed timed he knows where he is going to be after he thorws combinations or fires off a jab and Floyd exploits that....The fact he has bad hands sits in the back of his mind and instead of reeling off 4-6 hards shots he fire 1 or 2 at most and then moves....DLT have you ever worn boxing gloves for 10-12 rounds? If not do it and throw 50-70 punches a timed round at a heavy bag. Start off thorwing hard but pace yourself....you tell me if by the 7th or 8th round if you don't have a hard time keeping a clentched fist never mind throwing hard shots right? My point is by the 7th or 8th round I know it takes a tremendous amount of strength for me to even keep my fist clentched tight....Thus fighters in later rounds throw less powerful shots or they have less SNAP on their punches because their hands arent fully closed either or their fist is NOT as tight as it was in the first half of the fight.....Now try to imagine that with bad hands....Bad hands = bad grip to begin with too...Bad grip = less powerful punch.....These also factor into why Floyd has become a pot shot fighter...Hopefully I explained it to you with out being biased...Floyd is a great fighter and he is tremdouly skilled both Deffensive and Offensive but the fact his hands aren't 100% looms large in his mind and thus he has become what many consider a boring fighter.....Lefty

That was an important speech, sir, and it needed to be made. Might I suggest, however, that the rest of this discourse is continued by those with brains larger than a g****?
