    Why doesn't Sven Ottke get as much Credit as Joe C. ?

    From Wikipedia "the phantom"'s accomplishments:

    He rebutted his critics, which had complained that he had started too late, when he became German Champion at the tender age of 18 at Middleweight. Ten further titles would follow. He took part in the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games . He became European Champion in 1991 and 1996, and came third in 1993.

    Ottke held amateur wins over Antonio Tarver, Chris Byrd, Michael Moorer, Zsolt Erdei and Juan Carlos Gomez [1].

    * Amateur Record: 256-47-5
    * East Germany Middleweight Champion 1985-1989
    * German National Middleweight Champion (1990-1991, 1995-1996)
    * German National Light Heavyweight Champion (1992-1993)
    * Three time Olympian

    34-0.

    Is it because he never had a "second half" of his career like Joe did? A second half that Joe had that included Lacy and kessler (which would put him above Sven in my personal book) and two fights against rest home retirees.

    So what is it? He doesn't get as much HBO hype or something>?

      Calzaghe's had a few wins that were questioned, but not as much as much as Ottke's were. Even then he never beat any fighters as good as Hopkins or Kessler.

          To quote the great Bernard hopkins "Who's KASSSSLAR"

          Kessler is not anyone. He hasn't beaten anyone. Why should a win against him count for anything more than a win like say GLEN JOHNSON, THOMAS TATE, or hmm this name is familiar MUNDINE.....

              A lot of Sven's pro fights decisions were close and very controversial and many times could have went the other way, thats probably one for starters. Second, even though Joe took forever to do it, he did eventually travel abroad which Sven was so reluctant to do. And finally, I think Joe's resume just speaks volumes louder then Sven's, which could contribute to him not being ranked so high.

                  At SMW is it really that different of a resume? Really?

                  Minus Kasssslar it's pretty damn close.
