    What's better for a boxer's visibility?

    Being on PPV and big event undercards or being a headliner on Versus or FNF?

    Initially, being on FNF and Versus. As the career gains some steam, being on PPV undercards. Look at Gamboa, he turned FNF into his own personal showcase and is now got Showtime all over his ass and a title fight coming up.

        Yup. Imagine if fights like JMM/Pac, and Cotto/Mar were on Espn? Boxing would be right there with the major sports.

          Agreed. If more cats got to see what boxing had to offer without gettin ****d for $50 a pop, there'd be a lot more appreciation. More casuals would eventually become diehards too. That said, bein on FNF or VS to start is a better deal cuz more people will get to see you.

            Obviously the latter. Gamboa is a perfect example of how to do it right as a talented up & comer. He's on ESPN, HBO, Showtime and fights FREQUENTLY, just about once a month. His fanbase is steadily growing. So if all goes well to plan, one day when he lands a huge fight, it can be on PPV and do fantastic numbers because of his fanbase and great expsoure.

            Whereas chavez jr basically has a small, but loyal fan base. He's not really creating new fans by isolating himself on these small time PPV events, not as much as if he were on ESPN, HBO, Showtime, etc. It might get him paid now, but in the long run it will hurt his financial potential because he's not reaching out to a bigger audience.

                I agree I think ESPN and Versus is better. But then I look at a guy like Victor Ortiz. Ortiz has been an undercard guy and seems to be gaining a lot of popularity.

                    Early on headlining ESPN, Versus, or Fox Sports cards, because the commentators will be squarely focused on your fight, and you will be the big deal.
