If he said that he wants to come back stronger and maybe try again with hatton then i wouldnt be so negative about him

but he comes across as a greedy ******* here

Also you have 400 posts, you can hardly call yourself a veteran
The question was, why does anyone need a new screenname purely just to spew 40 'controversial' posts within 24 hours of signing up? I've been reading more than I've posted here since 2004, smart guy. Try it.

On point...like I said, this isn't a new condition for Paulie...the boxing business has long been a cause of disillusionment for him. I mean, try reading between the lines. Fighters are subject to the same emotions as every fucker else. Paul loves the sport of boxing...anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot or just haven't followed his career, haven't heard him reminisce fondly about the wide-eyed wonder he felt upon first entering a boxing gym, seeing his hands wrapped for the first time, haven't heard him talk excitedly and respectfully about contemporaries he admires, never saw the immense pride with which he received the IBF title and subsequently carried himself as champion.
These comments are frustration talking. He's been vocal in the past about his distaste for the business and politics of boxing Imagine if you dedicated your life to something out of love and respect for the esteem it gave you...then over time you came to the creeping realization that the thing you'd given your all to had something rotten at its core, or wasn't rewarding talent and dedication as it had appeared to promise. It isn't some great new revelation, and he isn't the first fighter to feel *************** by the sport...he's just one of the more emotional and outspoken.

So who's a bum? My vote goes to the random nobody with an alternate account and an obvious Ricky Hatton bias racking up 40 obnoxious posts within hours of signing up.

Did you even watch the fight? Like he took some catastrophic beatdown. His hands are smashed...if anything is wrecking his career, it's that. Ricky Hatton is of no consequence.
Another clueless, obnoxious signup...british_fan...Joe Calzaghe avatar, natch...making ludicrous claims for Ricky Hatton...there are a million interchangeable versions of you already on this forum, why add to the crap?

He isn't a bum. He just isn't at the elite level. He just better give it his all and not get hurt.

It is not good news for him to fight when he hasn't got the heart, desire, and determination to win those fights believe me.
Mayweather made much more money and had bigger pay days then Paulie. he had the option to retire when he lost his desire to fight. Paulie has NOT made nearly the amount of money Mayweather made. His biggest payday was against Hatton and he grossed 800K. He loked really bad in that fight afraid to throw his right hand and counter Ricky even when he made him miss. Paulie is from the same neighborhood I am from. In our neighborhood it is about pride. money is the motivating factor but when you are in a fight you want to win period. People in our neighborhood would clown him if he got knocked out. they may not do it to his face but it would be talked about in barber shops and local bars in Bay Ridge. For sure I could imgaine he could have said he wants to fight on like Holyfield claims too and say it is not about money I am not broke I want to win another title. Any boxer who tells you it is not about money either has money or is lying. Sure there are a few boxers out there who want to be the best but that it only after they have money or they want bigger money fights and they need to beat a brand name to get their name up there for those fights.

As for Paulie being a bum and trust me I am not a fan of Paulie but to say he is a bum is a bit ridiculous. He is a good fighter with great hand speed and his south paw stance and boxing ability make it hard to deal with him. His limited power keep him from achieving super star status. if he had fought like he did against Cotto when he fought Hatton he would have gotten more praise but the announcers on HBO bashed him pretty good saying he was in way above his head and that his managers and promoters should get alot of credit for him being in the ring that night. Frankly he fought thet way they decribed him that night but I have seen much better from paulie as Harold Ledderman said that night as well....Lefty

being that he's not ELITE, and just a "good" fighter, he can fight somebody else just "good" and will lose b/c his heart isn't in it. he's a bum, it'll show sooner or later.....

fighting to "not get hurt" as opposed to wanting to win.......
