According to Gareth Williams, attorney for Ricky Hatton, the Manchester fighter has been approached for a 2009 rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. A little over a year ago, Hatton suffered his sole defeat to Mayweather in Las Vegas. After suffering the knockout loss, Hatton has chased after Mayweather for a rematch. Mayweather has not fought since the win over Hatton, announcing his retirement from the sport a few months ago. Makes more sense to rematch Hatton after and if Ricky starches Manny.
Hatton's value would rise, then they could make the rematch happen.
If Manny beats Ricky, then a mega fight between Manny and Floyd would be in demand and could possibly break the box office records set by De La Hoya vs. Mayweather.
