He wouldn't get 2 million from anyone else but GBP. Times are tough right now in the country and there is not going to be PPV for this one so he has to consider that too. he doesn't want to take that risk for 2 million. Shane move on my man fight Berto and take his title....Lefty

Mosley is a no-contender, having proved nothing over the last few years, barely defeating Mayorga in his last fight. Mosley was never a draw by himself either. The only thing he offers right now is his name, though some seems to believe that should be enough to be on the receiving end of an unfair purse.

It's a total lack of respect for the true champion, and I expect Margarito, and every other champion, to play it smart and walk away from such a disgraceful offer.
Mosley in my mind beat Cotto. He would have laid out Judah as well if they had fought. He knocked out Mayorga regardless of how ugly the fight was. he has a big name and a good reputation in the sport. he has been Champion himself in more then one weight class. Tony ain't getting no 2 mil anywhere else so he should have taken the fight cleaned house if he thinks he can and fought Cotto for his next big pay day in June/July. no way he takes off for three weeks and then comes back and turns down the deal. Let him go fight Kermit Cintron again and beat up on him because i know all the fight fans really want to see that right....Lefty

What happened to FEARS NO MAN. MOST FEARED ON THE PLANET. MEXICAN WARRIOR. PLAIN AND BASIC COMMON SENSE?

You're now telling me he's a business man? All you clowns who criticized Floyd and now back Margarito are the worst kinds of hypocrites.

Anyways Margarito would have won this fight by a vicious knockout. I am glad it is not happening, it would just make Margarito look bad.
I swear, I really don't get this type of thinking. So, say Margarito did just happen to win in impressive fashion against Mosley. You telling me thats worse then not taking the damn fight at all? Just some ass backward type of thinking.

What credit did Joe C. get for beating a 39 year old Roy Jones?

Why do keep on throwing Calzaghe out there, like that means ****? Really dude, your defense of Margarito is bordering on nuthugging. Mosley has never been stopped, never took two consecutive devastating knockouts. Last time. How is NOT taking this fight, better then taking it?

Because it does nothing for the welterweight landscape. I said it when this fight was announced weeks ago and I say it now.

It does nothing. Margarito beating Shane would be equivalent to Joe beating Roy. Young fighters rarely credit when beating someone past the age of 35.

"Shane was too old, he would have beaten Tony in his prime".
"How come Tony never wanted to fight Shane when he was in his prime".

I'm not defending Margarito here seeing as how I've never like this fight from the jump.

                    ....

Boxing purses are calculated by comparing your past paydays and then raising the offer or lowering it according to what you've made.

If a boxer's career high payday has only been $5,000, why offer him $15,000 when you can get him for $10,000?

If $2 million is $500,000 more than his previous career high, which was against a guy who beat the guy you are being offered to fight, why is that a "lowball" offer?

All right. I can see where you are coming from, I guess. My point is, where is Margarito going to get a 2 million dollar payday before the Cotto rematch? Collazo? Clottey? **** is just weird to me.
