because he is depriving boxing fans of good fights... he's been fighting eurobums forever in the UK and finally now that he's stepped up the competition he's already on the way out. That's a b!tch move.

Are you telling me that if you had put your body through as much as he had for as long as he has you wouldnt wanna quit?
It was Joe's decision to wait until forever (until RJJ got Shot and Hopkins looked beatable) to come to the U.S. and make these fights. If it was up to me he'd have been over here by now and taken these fights when he was in his prime and didn't have to put his body through the pain.

Its not like he needs the income anymore.
that's right its all for the glory now and obviously it's a b!tch move.

And if you hate him so much why do you want him to stay in boxing u idiot?
I hate him for what he's doing (retiring and depriving us of great fights), not because of who he is or where he's from. IMHO that justifies it.

Oh wait a minute -- Glenn Johnson must be an ATG now, right?
I've always said that Dawson needs to give Johnson a rematch. Dawson's fight w/ Tarver was a unificaiton bout even though Dawson had to give up his strap. That means Joe v. Dawson is a unification of the lineal and unified belts which would go a long way in cementing Calzaghe's ATG status.

without it, Calzaghe is a great super-middle weight who moved up to 175 and fought in the old-men's circuit.

maybe if it was him that beat Pavlik he'd get more respect.

I dont like Calzaghe at all really, but he is a good fighter, he doesnt need to fight Hopkins again because he already won a pretty safe (in the judges eyes at least) win in Vegas where, lets face it, he ws always going to be underscored for being British. Hes now talking about not having to fight Pavlik, which was a fight i was desparate to see before Saturday, because everyones been talking about him ducking Pavlik for the past year or so. Kelly got demolished by Hopkins and Calzaghe has nothing to prove against him now.

Like I said, im no Calzaghe and I though his fight against Hopkins was incredibly tight and could easily have gone either way (i had it at a draw personally), but saturdays performance should have shown people how good Calzaghes performance agains Hopkins was. For him to win in America, against an American legend after having been put down in the first was a good result, but to do it against the guy who utterly destroyed arguably the best young prospect in boxing 6 months later makes it a fantastic result really.
i hate it when people post, and don't even read the bulll**** that they post.......

u just said, dawson's fight w/ johnson was much closer than the calzaghe fight w/ hopkins........................

BUT you went on to post that the hopkins fight was very tight, could've gone eithewr way, and you scored it a draw.....plus the fact it actually ended in a SD........i dont know what world you live in, but a fight can't get any closer than that..............

calzaghe says he's retiring, but like i said, money talks........this just gives me more motivaiton to root for roy jones on the 8th, so calzaghe can retire w/ a beating....

but who kno's roy might give calzaghe a rematch just to spite hopkins. could happen. roy and calzaghe are both ******* in my book.......

none of the guys mentioned here, should mess w/ chad dawson.....and hopkins is my favorite fighter.......

dawson COULD give glen johnson a rematch, but dawson clearly won the fight on points, and got into trouble b/c he chose to "mix it up" instead of just play to his strengths and BOX.......

so dawson COULD give glen a rematch, but in the rematch, dawson fights much smarter, probably beats glen in the same fashion he just beat tarver....both guys are too slow. chad has the ability to make glen look just as bad.....

This fraud would pop off at the mouth after somebody else did the work. But he is right, he would have beaten Pavlik the same way. Pavlik is a str8 up and down fighter, he doesn't move and he cant hit you if your moving. BHop didn't fade like he thought he would so he was f****d, he would have trouble with any athletic fighter with a decent punch. He couldn't pull the trigger cuz he couldnt zero in on the target. ***azhe would have a bit tougher time though cuz he has no pop. But with that being said, the pot calls the kettle black. ***azhe is one of the most overrated fighters in history. His toughest comp has been when? See what I mean. Its by design he is taking the biggest fights in his career when he is almost guaranteed to win. He should shut his mouth and continue the charade with out a word. I know it wont happen but I/we would all love to see RJJ pull a Bhop and rewind the clock. And fyi the real LHW king is Dawson. Same situation as in the WW division with Margie falsely wearing the crown belonging to Who!

So, basically, you're saying Hopkins (who just destroyed the 26 year-old great American boxing white hope) fights like an old man?

Are you also forgetting the fight Hopkins pulled out of in 2002 against Joe, right at the last minute? It took at the very least 6 years for Joe to get Hopkins into the ring. Maybe Hopkins was waiting until Joe was out of his prime?
