Where else would it be possible to reach a conclusion such as that, obviously Enzo wouldn't openly admit he thought Joe lost after he had been awarded the split decision. Only if the decision had gone Hopkins way would there be any chance of Enzo openly admitting he thought Hopkins won it. But Enzo's statements at the end of the 11th round really aren't open to interpretation, they summarise his views on the fight. Enzo is not the type of trainer who will tell his fighter that "he needs a KO to win", unless he genuinely believed it was the truth.

Enzo is a "call it as I see it" trainer, if you're doing well he'll tell you, if you're doing badly he'll tell you. He has never used reverse psychology on his fighters and it would be illogical to suggest that he decided to uncharacteristically do so at the end of the round 11 in the Hopkins fight. It just doesn't make any sense or follow any established pattern. It's easy to backstep now and claim that it was "bolstering his fighters spirits" in retrospect.. it's plainly not the truth. At that stage in the fight Enzo really thought Joe needed to KO Hopkins to win which, by simple deduction, means that Enzo thought Hopkins had won the fight. Maybe a bitter pill to swallow for some.

You're actually completely wrong. You may see him as a "fraud" but most people in the world don't. Especially casual fans who don't get deep into the politics of boxing, of which there are many.

that is so crap....i new they would never have a rematch but i thought calzaghe would of went about it the right way...completely giving no hopkins no credit saying i beat him so i dont have to fight anyone else or him again cuz i proved myself...hmm mayweather undeafeted agaisnt the best of the best....calzaghe undeafeted agaisnt 40 knowbodys...i have lost alot of respect fo him after those comments...rjj now deserves a victory pure and simply because of the champions hes bit in the past...calazghe says pavlik is not a "great"...bit hypercritical i think!!!

I assume you are new to boxing if you have never seen a trainer say those kind of things to his fighter. Either that, or you haven't watched enough Calzaghe fights. It's pretty simple man, he knew the fight was close, as we all did. Enzo shouts at Joe all the time.
