Where did Enzo state that he thought Hopkins won? I hope you're not basing that on Enzo bolstering his fighters' spirit in the corner between rounds.

Where else would it be possible to reach a conclusion such as that, obviously Enzo wouldn't openly admit he thought Joe lost after he had been awarded the split decision. Only if the decision had gone Hopkins way would there be any chance of Enzo openly admitting he thought Hopkins won it. But Enzo's statements at the end of the 11th round really aren't open to interpretation, they summarise his views on the fight. Enzo is not the type of trainer who will tell his fighter that "he needs a KO to win", unless he genuinely believed it was the truth.

Enzo is a "call it as I see it" trainer, if you're doing well he'll tell you, if you're doing badly he'll tell you. He has never used reverse psychology on his fighters and it would be illogical to suggest that he decided to uncharacteristically do so at the end of the round 11 in the Hopkins fight. It just doesn't make any sense or follow any established pattern. It's easy to backstep now and claim that it was "bolstering his fighters spirits" in retrospect.. it's plainly not the truth. At that stage in the fight Enzo really thought Joe needed to KO Hopkins to win which, by simple deduction, means that Enzo thought Hopkins had won the fight. Maybe a bitter pill to swallow for some.

Whether you like it or not, Joe will be seen as great by the majority of the people. Your rants on here won't change anyone's opinions, I guarantee this, so why bother whining?

PS: Don't forget to count the years it takes before you see another undefeated fighter retire with 46 or so fights under his belt. Why do people remember Marciano? I mean the general public...

I bet that took maybe 2 seconds to think over.

        Good luck!

most people don't know who he is. i call them the luckiest people on earth.

There are many reasons Enzo couldve told Joe to KO him. None of which include him thinking Hopkins was actually winning.

          1. To pysche up Joe
          2. Because he knew it was close and in America, he could be robbed
          3. He wanted Joe to put a stamp on it with a KO

I want this coward, ducking slappy clown Calzaghe to lose to Roy so bad.

I'm so sick of him overating himself..robbing fighters by looking active...fighting them when they are old and calling yourself a legend killer.

RoY by KO lets go Roy

Enzo is a "call it as I see it trainer", he always has been. He thought that the only way for Joe to win was by KO, so he said so. It's really as simple as that. No trainer would tell their fighter that they need to knock out the other guy to win, in the final round, unless they genuinely believed it because if you go for a KO you leave yourself exposed and vulnerable to being KO'd. Enzo knew that so he wouldn't tell Joe to go for a KO in the final round unless he really thought Joe needed it to win.

Throughout all of boxing history, when a trainer tells his fighter he needs a KO to win in the 12th round, it's because he thinks the fighter will otherwise lose on points. Enzo simply did what countless trainers have done in the past when they believe their fighter is losing by the end of the penultimate round - "you have to knock him out to win". There is no shame in Enzo saying that and also no need for anyone to make up excuses on his behalf. His evaluation of the fight was the same as many of the spectators and, more importantly, the same as one of the three official judges.

I assume you are new to boxing if you have never seen a trainer say those kind of things to his fighter. Either that, or you haven't watched enough Calzaghe fights. It's pretty simple man, he knew the fight was close, as we all did. Enzo shouts at Joe all the time.

Talk about taking **** out of context, man. Wow.

I have seen Enzo get seriously pissed off at Joe for messing around during fights, doing things he generally doesn't like, etc.

Honestly, you need not have typed all that post out, I'm not convinced Enzo thinks Joe lost that fight, I never will be convinced, and as far as I'm concerned you're completely wrong anyway. No disrespect.

Congratulations for ignoring all the points presented to you and repeating the same tired crap.
