Hopkins performance was a tribute to Joe Calzaghe

*Inserts the article about Vitali's perforamnce beeen a tribute to Lennox Lewis.*

    Same thing applies.

It's good to know liking Joe is back in fashion.

      Great thread, Nicky!

Calzaghe beat the man who beat America's best young fighter. The irrational Calzaghe haters need to be fair and give Joe credit.

Its obvious that this win would make Joe look better because in reality hopkins is a very very difficult fighter to deal with, Joe even had to get off the floor to win the fight so looking back now that was a great win for Joe.

I agree. Hopefully people now realise Hopkins isn't just an old man and is still one of the best in the game.

Before the fight, plenty of people were pretty damn quick to say "If Pavlik even gets a convincing SD over Hopkins it makes Joe look like trash". So on that note, yeah, Bernard Hopkins dishing out a Lacy-style beating to Pavlik does make Joe look better. There will still be a lot of bitterness towards Calzaghe though, merely due to the fact that Calzaghe is from the UK.

Face it, Calzaghe is elite whether you like him or not. No amount of bull**** anyone posts on a message board can truly dispute that, and the history books will show you this later on.

Bottom line: STFU, and try to recognize talent when it's there in front of you.

DO you think Calzaghe would Lacy Pavlik then?

B-Hop put a great performance on, and totally schooled Pavlik. Did Pav's corner really say throw bunches in punches it's what Calzaghe did? LOL

PersonallY i had Pavlik by sd, possible ko! after watching him against Joe, but wow he was a different animal. I think this must give Joe large amounts of credit, withhow Hopkins didn't fight like that against him.

There are 2 different Hopkins. the one that tried to win fights with his slickness against Calzaghe. And the one that beat Pavlik with combination. If Hopkins put punches together like he did against Pavlik against Calzghe, he'd have beaten Calzaghe...

in fairness to Joe though, pavlik is slow and lumbering and a whole different type of fighter.

that said, notice Hopkins was beating Pavlik from pillar to post and Pavlik wasn't down once. The first hard shot Hopkins caught Calzghe with, he went down.
