    Tszyu and Mitchell on Hatton

    Tszyu

What do you think about Ricky Hatton as a possible opponent in the future?

Ricky Hatton is a good fighter, a very exciting fighter, with big popularity in his homeland. I will look at it this way – what people want, what people demand, that is what will make it. If SHOWTIME is going to be happy because they have to play a big role in this, then we will make the fights happen.

How do you feel about Ricky Hatton stating if he was your next fight, his pressure would break you down?

He believes so. He is a young fighter with tremendous pressure. I am not looking past one fight at a time. If it is going to happen, and he is going to be the No. 1 contender for my IBF title, then we will see. If everything goes well, then we will fight and we will see.

In your career, you have fought so many more quality opponents than Hatton. Does it bother you when you hear guys demanding fights with you and talking in the media like apparently Hatton has been doing?

I am sure Ricky wants to fight, but it is not his problem. His promoter has done a good job for him to try to get the money for himself because he is always packing the stadium in Manchester without fighting anybody.

    Mitchell

Has there been any more discussion about you facing Ricky Hatton in the future?

Mitchell: No, not that I have heard of.

Gary Shaw: We made a deal over in England and he (Hatton) had his opportunity. Sharmba went over and fought in England specifically to be on the card so that the English fans could get to see him. That was the plan. He had the opportunity and he did not take the opportunity. There was more money for Hatton on the table at that time than there was for Sharmba Mitchell. So far, every fighter that Sharmba Mitchell has beaten, Ricky has had as his next opponent. He just fought Mikey Stewart to get to the No. 1 mandatory to face Sharmba again. We like purse fits instead of making deals so Sharmba can get 75 percent of the money.

Im up for this fight if Tszyu beats mitchell, tszyus gotta beat mitchell first, if he can beat mitchell i think he'd beat hatton without too much trouble, if mitchell wins, i think rickys performance against olivera could show how well he handles sharmba

Typo, I meant KTFO, lol. Hatton would get ate up and spit out by KZ but it would be a great fight while it lasts.

If Kostya is as good as he was and he beats Sharmba there is not much opportunity for Hatton to beat him. Kostya would be just too strong/fast/technical/experienced for Hatton.
Especially if fight would happen in America. Kostya can deal was huge pre fight pressure. I am not sure about Hatton. He never fought outside of Britain and thus fighting in America where there is not as many of his fans will do him no good.In my opinion though he is just another Dorin like, overhyped in his own hometwon fighter.

Hatton would catch an ass whipping by both of these fellows.

Ricky is still untested he has a heart. Too early to say. Kostya hasn't fought forever, his heart may be gone, he may have gotten old. Mitchell would give Ricky lots of trouble. Would love to see either of them.

Ricky would probably get KTFO by any of the top in the Jr.Welter division.

I'm not trying to stick up for Hatton here yet, I agree he's untested, but I've got some serious doubts about Tszyu and Mitchell. Neither of these guys have been tested for a while, hell KT hasn't even fought in almost two years. I'm looking forward to the fight tomorrow night, but I get the feeling this is happening about a year and a half too late. That is to say: I'm no longer convinced these are the best two guys in this weight class, even though they probably were about a year ago.
