So, I just watched Clottey vs. Judah

Yeah, I know, I know, I'm pretty late on this...my downloads have been moving mad slow, though. But anyhow, I just wanted to comment on how I was impressed with Judah's effort despite his loss.

I've never been one of Zab Judah's fans, to be honest. I've always seen him as a fighter who had all the talent and potential in the world but just didn't have the mental strength to succeed in placing himself at the top where he indeed could be. I had always noticed that he was fighter who would always start very well, but as he began taking punishment would somewhat stop fighting as he did against Mayweather, Baldomir, and Cotto. But in his fight against Clottey, Judah was pretty consistent throughout. Even though he seems to be slipping further towards gatekeeper status, I am still interested in seeing him fight since seeing this change in him. But, then again, I did think the same thing after his second fight with Cory Spinks.

Also, this was my first time seeing Joshua Clottey fight. I do want to catch more of his fights, too.

Judah didn't seem as fast as he used to be and his workrate was lower than it used to be as well but it was a good performance from Judah overall, I did think he wanted a way out with the cut though.

Yeah, a lot of people were satisfied with Zab's effort. He was consistent & showed he still has some fire left in him. But against the top welter's he can't always get the job done. I would like to see him @ 140, I think he would murder down there.

I actually thought that people were a bit hard on Zab.

Did he intentionally get the number of fingers wrong? If so, why did he get it right the first time he was asked? The cut was very bad, and I think Zab has more heart than people give him credit for. He showed a lot of courage against Cotto and was stopped on his feet.

I understand the criticism; his workrate does tend to drop when he starts to lose a fight, but there's a big difference between struggling under pressure and quitting.

This comment isn't aimed at anyone in particular by the way, just my general view of the previous threads that I saw on the topic.

That cut was not as bad as he claimed it was IMO, he didn't seem to have any problem seeing afterwards, I thought that he knew the fight was going Clottey's way and he thought that he was ahead on the cards so he wanted the fight stopped to win the decision and as you said, I thought he answered the doctor's question correctly the first time but he's the only one who knows for sure.

I noticed in the Ryan Davis fight, which was his fight prior to Clottey, that his workrate was pretty low as well. I wonder if he's starting to feel the effects of age or he's trying to pace himself more.

zab shold go to 140. he would dominate there. i think he could beat ricky hatton in his next fight if he put in the work, stayed out of the clubs, and stopped smoking blunts for a few months.

...he should probably keep clear of impromptu dice games as well...

I posed in it, he just doesn't and didn't have the mental toughness and discipline to be an elite fighter.
