In the "modern era" how many fights should constitute a "full career"?

    Delahoya: 44 fights

    Mosley: 50 fights

    Mayweather: 39 fights

    Hatton: 45 fights

    Hopkins: 55 fights

    Leonard: 40 fights

    Trinidad: 45 fights

    Jones, Jr: 56 fights

    Vargas: 31 fights

    Calzaghe: 45 fights

In your opinion, how many fights should a fighter have for you to feel that you have seen a "full career" from him?

    40-50 would be average.

By sheer #s there is no cap on a career. It's the amount of abuse a guy takes, coupled wit the # of quality fighters he fought that constitutes a 'full' career.

          You're right.
Do you think retiring at 30, in your prime is average?!

All in the fighters that are beaten. I'd say 45. A couple of crapy fights will always come ur way when ur avoided. Okay, maybe not a couple, I mean ALOT. Thats why I say 45.

exactly.. as an example take hatton vs de la hoya, not that far apart in numbers, but worlds apart in quality opposition, thereby making dlh career much harder.

If one becomes a world class contender early in his career then somewhere between 40-45.

If you're doing what Chavez Jr is doing then....who knows

I like to see 50+. I think James Toney's 80+ is very respectable for a modern era fighter and world champion in multiple weight classes.

                    35-45 realistically.
