    would i have a chance?

hey hows it goin this is my first post, my name is mike im 20 and i train out of brockton, MA. ive been training more or less for the past 10 years in martial arts, and for the last couple of years ive been been boxing and doing full contact kick boxing. I would consider myself excellent in kempo, and above average in technique, speed, agility, and so on for boxing. Aright so im half way decent. sparring with certain people usually goes my way. If im 6 foot, 205 pounds, how would i fair against a professional lightweight or welterweight? Would I have a chance? this may seem like a ****** question, but the best fighters at my gym are my size or much bigger and usually beat me with ease. one of my sparring partners was new england kick boxing super heavyweight champ, he odviously could destroy me, but ive never fought anyone highly proffecient under 175 pounds or so in a long time. So how would an average amateur cruiser or heavyweight boxer, who has the stamina to go 12 rounds, do against say eric morales or someone a little bigger? i personally think id get my ass beat.
sorry if i posted this in the wrong place
    peace.

At 205, you'd be a heavyweight in terms of boxing. You're 6", so you could make, 175 or so, I'd assume. That might help you out.

cool, do you mean lose weight down to 175? sorry if i misunderstood you, im just trying to figure out if an amateur of my status would get his ass beat by someone professional a few weight classes lower. i was fighting at 155 for a while, then i gained all this weight all of a sudden this summer. I only have about 20% fat so its not excess, and i do much better with this weight cause i like to work the clinch, but who know maybe i should try 190

Ill take boxing as far as it can go, im still young, i like it as a hobby but id go pro if i get good enough, but do you think id do much better as a middleweight? I guess i can see its better to be the big guy in middleweight class then just make the cut at 200 pounds or so for heavyweight. who knows now i mean im the same size as joe frazier in his prime and he did fine as a smaller heavweight, although the games different now so theres no telling. and then again, im not joe frazier

You'd need to be 147 pounds to make welterweight in pro boxing. If you got down to 175 pounds, you'd be light-heavyweight.

Or, you could fine-tune your skill sand be decent in the weak ass heavyweight division.

yea i mean really, on espn they were saying boxing is just waiting for someone to step in to the heavyweight division, its just pathetic now, but, i could do 175 then i could go after Roy

but back to my orignal question, if i stepped in the ring right now with a professional welter or middleweight, say maybe same height same reach (72) how do you think it would go down?

lol. Well, if you train I'm sure it's worth trying. But, it'd need to be more than just a hobby. It needs to be your life.

welters and middleweights are fast, probably faster than you. i hope your technique is good and u know how to cover up. i was an amatuer boxer, i sparred with a club fighter a couple times, that guy handed me my ass the first time. that's probably how it would go down for u, i'm not trying to piss u off, but these guys are professionals, all they do is practice fighting. u'll probably find out u need better skills

oh no offense taken at all, if u see my first post i predict i will die, but i was fighting at 155lb 4 months ago, and personally dont think ive slowed at all at 205, just became alot stronger. i was pretty quick too, my sparring partner then was a legit black belt(10 years plus) from my school, not some 'hey heres a black belt for 200 dollars kind of deal', i understand the belt system has no merit and was created entirely as a way to give little kids an incentive to stay with it, but anyways hes about 5'8" 145 pounds, reminds me of bruce lee. hes really really good at point sparring but he just started boxing. any solid punch i landed when i weight 160ish would send him reeling, and that began my thought on the subject. we usually kickboxed as well, if i landed a solid roundhouse up top it would be all over. im trying to figure out how much different kickboxing and boxing really are
