He looked fine to me.There are some thing's that he still hasn't improved on,but he was taking the shots because Ouma was giving him all of the opportunity to do so,and none of Ouma's punches stunned Jermain.

He fought totally different against B-Hop and Winky.

Styles makes fights, Taylor won every round and did not use his jab in this fight at all, he also wanted to get a KO, which will never happen without using the jab first.

Taylor did what he had to do to win, Ouma is no Robin Reid, the same guy that was robbed against Calzaghe!
Why did you have to bring Reid/Calzaghe into this? Who mentioned them???

See, to me, now I can understand why YOU had Taylor winning all three fights before this. I mean, HOW can you give him the final round when all he did was back up and get in about six shots?

And did you REALLY think this was a good performance?

Seriously - answer without dropping in names of British fighters, it's totally irrelevant to the topic.

I don't agree. Ouma is ALWAYS going to come forward. I think Taylor was giving himself his best chance to land clean by backing up and giving himself more room with his much longer arms, and when the distance was closed to nil, he tied up or circled out. I mean, he won every round and outworked a fighter who is never shutout or outworked. Ouma is always in phenomenal shape and has a good chin, or you'd have seen him out of there.

Taylor always seems a tad jittery early, and even moreso fighting in front of his home crowd. He was trying for the KO early for them, and needs to learn to chill with that. That one left-right-left that he landed in round 4 would have put down most fighters. I love Taylor's energy and agressiveness, even if it is a bit reckless at times. I'll take it over the "safe and boring" anyday. He knew he had the fight won, and was still trying to put Ouma in the 3rd row down the stretch.

            Bottom line: Taylor=12 Ouma=0

That goes without saying. Ouma is a tough guy and you will never see me try to discredit him. However I've always been very wary or Taylor's hype. Like I said, I gave him the benefit of the doubt against Hopkins and Wright because those guys can make anybody look bad.

After tonight's fight I'm beginning to revert back to my initial thinking of Taylor as an overblown heir to the throne, a throne which he does not deserve IMO. I think HBO set this up as a "gimme" in his hometown to add some more hype to Taylor's fire.

I don't think that plan worked.

I couldn't find a round to give to Ouma.
You must've been sitting at Alltell arena drinking some Arkansas whiskey. That crowd was heavily in favor of Taylor and had an impact of the perception of the fight.

Ouma won more rounds than 2 of the judges saw fit to give him. Taylor ran backwards a lot and tied up like I've never seen before. Jim gave credit to Taylor's power for "stopping" Ouma when in actuality it was the holding that did the trick.

                  Agreed.

Oh, lest anyone not understand - I do COMPREHEND the art of counterpunching. But initiating clinches like you're at a John Ruiz convention and using the "back foot" style against a man who's only there to make you look good is NOT the way to go about things.

I'm pleased for those who disagree and think Jermain put on a good show, however.

Nobody in the Middleweight division can or will beat Taylor he has fought the best already. i thought he could have won the Winky fight, and he won both Hopkins fights like it or not. quit saying bull**** about there being a hype bubble because Taylor is not overrated if anything you guys are underrateing him with all this bull**** talk.

If the referee doesn't say anything, then it is irrelevent IMO.I don't think he tied up so much that it took Ouma completly out of the fight.Every round Taylor found himself backed into a corner and Ouma could not do anything.
