Newly crowned Commonwealth lightweight champion Amir Khan says he is keen for a domestic showdown with British title holder Jon Thaxton.
Khan claimed the Commowealth belt when Willie Limond failed to answer the bell for the ninth round of their bout on July 14.
But it was tough night for the Bolton fighter, who was sent to the canvas for the first time as a professional in the sixth and only just beat the count before surviving the round.
Although he then came back to break Limond's jaw and claim the win, Thaxton was unimpressed, declaring that the Olympic silver medalist has 'no chin' .
"I can't believe Thaxton said that because I've met him a few times and he's a really nice guy," said Khan.
"His time will come because I'll definitely fight him. He's experienced and strong."
Khan also re-stated his intention to win a world title at the age of 21, meaning he has 16 months to achieve the feat.
"It's my ambition to do it," he added. "I want to go somewhere, be someone.
"It was like at the Olympic Games (in 2004) - people were saying it wasn't going to happen for me.
"But I went there and I did it. A year is a long time. I've been a professional for two years. In a year I'll be stronger and better.
"I've always said I want to be a young world champion. It's in my head and I have to go for it.
"Look how far I've come after 13 fights in a tough division which has a lot of good fighters in. I'm going in the right direction."
Khan's next fight will be at the Nottingham Arena on October 6 against a yet to be named opponent.
