First post here. Just copped a Facebook ban so started here.

Whose the greatest fighter from down under? Usually hearing about Fenech or Tszyu but what about Darcy or Griffo or Carruthers or Rose? Even the likes of Sands and Thompson and Carroll were top contenders in hard eras but its always Fenech.

Have brushed up on my Aussie history of boxers lately, but I'd rank these off the top of my head.

Good list. I have Les Darcy and Jack Carroll in my 5. Both were legends of their time. Lottsa good books on Darcy out there and one just came out on Jack Carroll that I havent read. Carroll was so good Barney Ross wouldnt fight him!

Seriously though, Lionel Rose seems somewhat forgotten today, but he was really something back when.

Tszyu has the best highlight Ko, a slam dunk outta ballpark snippet for the comedy night hosts. He could really crack.

Very young, very handsome and acclaimed, as near my distant memory can connect, got accused of being a war slacker and fled for the US.

There he enlists and then gets sick and dies. Lots died in his era w'er war or disease or combination.
