Valuev had the same height and reach as Chamberlain and was 30 to 40 pounds heavier. Could he beat Ali? Plus Valuev had much more boxing experience than Chamberlain.
--- We know Ali never had to face modern monsters, but Wilt hugely more athletic than Ali or Valuev, plus he had Cus to fill in the fight experience superior to Dundee who allowed Ali to self train hisself to stay on the gravy wagon.

Cus was also supposed to train Jim Jacobs to fight Archie Moore, a fight Jacobs smartly backed out of.
Ali may have been past prime in 76, but that's compared to the top, elite heavyweights. No way Wilt Chamberlain beats an experienced world class fighter like Ali. There were other big men from basketball and football that got into pro boxing back then and it didn't turn out good for them. Remember Shaq vs De la Hoya? Remember how many physical advantages Shaq had over De la Hoya?
Now just imagine if Shaq was in with say, a top light heavyweight like Michael Spinks or Bob Foster who was really trying to hurt him? Never mind a top heavyweight.
It would be the same as Ali challenging Chamberlain to a basketball game. Ali would end up looking like an oaf.
--- Not sure how a 76 Ali is relevant to Ali vs Wilt circa 67-73, but there you go again limiting Wilt to just being a basketball player, a sport he didn't even like but for paying the bills.
And remember, Wilt the more dominant icon in that time frame and some money was raised, but never enough to pay Wilts guarantee, and yeah, he leveraged the Lakers into buying him out of those fights.
Babe Ruth did much the same thing circa 1917 or so by signing a $5000 contract to fight JJOHNSON sparmate Gunboat Smith.
The Red Sox bought him out of that deal and the rest is settled history.

Wilt would have got his azz tore up badly. You have a guy that had been boxing since he was 12 vs a guy that never been in a ring. There is nothing to think about.
I'm 58 years old. Put me in the ring with any basketball player who has never put on a pair of boxing gloves before and I'd make him look like a sissy and quickly. If I can do that what could the greatest of all hwt champions do?
